What A Surprise

HMG can’t run a piss up in a brewery.

The government’s flagship green heating scheme has been described as “seriously failing” by a Lords inquiry.

Well, aren’t we all amazed at this?

On Wednesday, the Lords Climate Change Committee said grant take-up is so low the national target for green heating is “very unlikely to be met”.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

The government responded by saying it would launch a marketing campaign to make people more aware of the scheme.

I’m sure. Not to mention every scammer in town will be more aware, too. Which will lead to people being highly sceptical and not touching the thing with a proverbial bargepole.

Heating in UK homes produces nearly 17% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, which are responsible for climate change.

Notice how the BBC says this straight faced as if it is merely repeating a fact. Not one hint of question in the air – it causes climate change, so that’s that.

Anyway, I have a very nice boiler that is still under warranty and I have no intention of changing it. And that is that.

  1. Given the UK is about 1% of global emissions (not admitting there is a problem) then suddenly the sentence becomes

Heating in UK homes produces nearly 0.17% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, which are responsible for climate change.

And is far less impressive, nor as vitally important to change.

  2. The scammers are the Government which is trying to bribe people to install a rotten product. The simple fact is is that heat pumps are expensive to install and don’t work well.

  3. “Notice how the BBC says this straight faced as if it is merely repeating a fact. Not one hint of question in the air – it causes climate change, so that’s that.”

In the billions of years the Earth has existed, its climate never changed until the Industrial Revolution. Climate change is entirely man-made. It must be true. That’s what the honest and impartial BBC tell us.
