New Home

Thanks to Richard of Grandad fame, this blog now has a new home. Let’s just say that it wasn’t a smooth ride and it isn’t quite over yet. The SSL certificate isn’t working, so you may get a warning notice about me trying to steal your credit card details.

I’ve been with Media Temple for around fifteen years. Then a month or so back, they decided to merge – or get taken over – by GoDaddy, so I was migrated without my prior consent. As I was otherwise occupied, I let things slide until I had some time to set up an alternative host.

That is now done.

In the process of the migration to GoDaddy, they broke it. If you thought the SSL problem was bad, all my plugins went AWOL. I use a plugin to revert the editor back to the original classic type. A writing tool should, of necessity be simple. The original WordPress one was the epitome of simplicity and ease of use. Someone in WordPress decided to let some moronic university graduate who thought he knew better ‘improve’ it by creating the appalling blocks clusterfuck. This editor is pretty much impossible to work with – a classic example of user interface hostility, such that I gave up trying. Even the simplest of tasks, such as formatting became a screaming match with the computer screen. So I bided my time until the final migration was done.

So here it is. We may encounter some teething problems, but hopefully, free of GoDaddy, things should be pretty much plain sailing.

And my thanks to Richard for his perseverance.

Update. The SSL is now working.

  1. Further update. As a consequence of this, the email associated with this domain is likely to stop working for a bit while I sort it out.

    • Oops, wrong thread. I will assume that this is my fault rather than a glitch in the new system. Obviously it’s about JSO and their threats to disrupt the gay parade. It appears that the gays are above the anti oil gang in the identity pecking order so popcorn will be needed in large quantities.

  2. Works fine and smoothly for me, none of those previous SSL cloud nonsense bollocks anymore. I also read this via feebly, works fine now.
