I really despise organisations such as Peta.
A landlord has blasted ‘Left-wing wokery’ after facing mounting pressure from Peta to change the name of his pub.
Mike Newton changed the name to The Old Bulldog from the Sea Lion more than a year ago, inspired by his own beloved pet bulldog, Atticus.
But Peta – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – wrote to Mr Newton calling on him to change the name of the Stoke-on-Trent boozer due to health issues associated with the breed.
The organisation wrote: ‘Bulldogs and other flat-faced breeds are afflicted with brachycephalic syndrome, which causes laboured breathing, snorting, coughing, retching, tiring easily and fainting.’
Peta wants The Old Bulldog to be renamed as The Old Mutt.
Who the fuck do these jumped up poltroons think they are? It’s a pub name, that’s it. He can call it whatever he likes, given that he bought the pub in question. It is none of their business. They don’t get to tell anyone to do anything. Do they own this pub? No. Well, fuck off then.
As for ‘increasing pressure’ I suggest that their letters are given the same treatment as the BBC licencing letters – straight into the bin.

So our 17th Century pub has had its name changed to that of a bush which was no doubt used to beat those selfsame slaves – The Willow Tree.

I can’t even boycott Greene King because I haven’t been to their pubs since the very early 00’s in Kingston. Their beer is shite, very bland, mostly piss weak.

PETA are well known for being woefully ill informed about the subject that they campaign about. They famously ran a poster campaign about how sheep are skinned for their wool. In this case you are correct, they should simply be ignored.
It’s all about getting publicity for them. Rather than running to the media, he should have just binned the missive and forgot about it.

PETA are well known for killing more animals that come into their clutches than any organisation short of the Wholesale Butchery Association.
They need to be shut down and prosecuted.
