Diane Abbott has claimed Sir Keir Starmer is attempting an anti-democratic coup in her constituency Labour Party, with the aim of replacing her as the candidate prior to the next election.

I thought that it was just routine, deselecting and replacing candidates if they screwed up or came to be seen as a bit of a liability. I’m not sure how replacing one Labour candidate with an alternative Labour candidate qualifies as a coup. Maybe she should stand as an independent, if her constituents re elect her she will have proven her point.
