Well, Yes and No

As always, people see more in a by-election than they should.

Record-breaking wins in two by-elections are a “game changer” which shows Labour can now win anywhere, Sir Keir Starmer has said.

Labour secured two new MPs on Friday, by overturning huge Tory majorities in Mid Bedfordshire and Tamworth.

The Labour leader said his party was “redrawing the political map” ahead of a general election, expected next year.

Yeah, don’t get too excited. Labour’s vote share was much the same as previously. If anything, it dropped a little. What actually happened was that the Conservative vote stayed at home. That’s hardly a game changer for Labour. They won because the other side didn’t come out to play.

The worrying thing is that we get a Labour government. However, I suspect that we will see a hung parliament in a general election. Personally I feel that hanging is too good for them.

  1. Isn’t that how Hitler got in. Once in he made sure he stayed in by hook or by crook! Think our area will remain conservative, not a lot of competition and local man everyone knows.

  2. It’s frustrating that Labour is no more popular but is going to win. However, until the leftists who have infiltrated the Conservative Party are ejected (including its current leader) there’s just no-one a voter who wants small government and low taxes to choose. The present government has expanded the state, *decreased* its already-laughable productivity and increased the National Debt. That’s what you vote Labour for, so what was the point? All we have is more livestock on the public sector voter farm. So Labour might as well do the job they’re built for – being the political wing of the Deep State – while Conservatives fight to wrest control of their party back so they can one day face the real challenge of bursting the Blob.
