WTF!?!

Seriously?

Doctors across the US are rushing families into having their babies’ tongues partly sliced off to make breastfeeding easier, an investigation has warned.

Known as ‘tongue tie surgery’, the involves using a laser to burn off excess skin under the tongue or the webbing that connects the lips and cheeks.

It is supposed to be used on babies with a genuine defect that prevents them from feeding properly but medical professionals have become increasingly liberal with prescribing it, despite around 60 percent of infants getting better without surgery.

What happened to ‘do no harm?’ I have become increasingly wary of the medical profession in recent years. This wariness accelerated during the lurgy three years ago. But this is insane. Although, I suppose, not quite as insane as chopping off a bloke’s nadgers, inverting his penis and calling it a vagina. And if you think that’s bad, see what they do to the girls who think they are men…

The rate of surgeries performed ballooned by 800 percent between 1997 and 2012 from around 1,280 procedures to more than 12,000, with doctors and breastfeeding consultants are raking in millions of dollars annually.

Of course. Such an increase count be down to the needs of the patient – let’s create a medical emergency and make a mint off the back of it. These people should be struck off, but it won’t happen unfortunately. In the meantime, I suggest home births might be a better option – see also, home schooling.

  1. Whatever happened to “do no harm” – too many seem to think it refers to their bank balance (see also your above post).

  2. “I’ve borrowed $thousands to get this medical degree, I can’t pay it off if I only do one operation a week, can I? I’ve got to drum up business somehow.” said the honest surgeon.

And this is America, the land of the free and the insurance company picks up the bill so it doesn’t cost anybody anything. Right?

  3. Drs should be avoided at almost any cost. They appear to be only useful if you’ve been shot or run over, almost everything else is an excuse to ply you with quack drugs that don’t work. A mate of mine was prescribed anti depression drugs, and one of the listed side effects was depression. Stiff upper lip and an even stiffer whisky is all that most ailments require.

  4. Those doctors have a responsibility, but how retarded do you have to be as a parent to agree to it in the 1st place!?
