People Don’t Learn

The UAE is an Islamic shithole with a barbaric, medieval legal system that is actively hostile to visitors.

A grandfather is facing jail in Dubai after being accused of trespass – for asking partying neighbours to lower the noise while babysitting his granddaughter.

The police are corrupt and will believe the local over the foreigner and in this case, no actual crime appears to have been committed. It’s just the usual trumped-up charges you expect from primitive savages.

There is a simple solution, of course. Don’t go there.

  1. I literally would not go to an Islamic country if you paid me. Why non-muslims would want to is beyond me.

Having said that, the UK is likely to face de facto colonisation by Muslims within 40 years.

    • I did once. I went to Tunisia before the Arab spring. It was okay as a holiday destination, but corrupt as fuck and I wouldn’t go back.

As for your second point, I don’t need to be depressed any further.

  2. There are loads of places in the world which are safe to visit – why go to Muslim countries? He could have gone to the canaries if he were desperate for winter sun.

  3. Curiosities about the story. A new year party? Muslim new year is currently in July.

And “Ian MacKeller, 75, from Aberdeenshire, Scotland travelled to the UAE during the festive period”. The festive period. That would be Christmas, yes? Is that a thing in a Muslim country?

Bluntly, I don’t think Mr MacKeller’s behaviour would necesarily have gone down very well even in his own country. To try that on as a visitor anywhere reeks of entitlement.

    • His daughter lives there, so he was visiting her. As for his behaviour, while in a civilised country he might have been told to do one, he wouldn’t be facing criminal charges.

  4. Some years ago, was also foolish enough to go to Tunisia. I’ve seen more culture in a petrie dish.

  5. “The police are corrupt and will believe the local over the foreigner”

So different from our police who, although corrupt, believe the foreigner over the local.
