Oh, Good Grief!

PTSD. FFS!

Liberal Democrat councillor has revealed that she was diagnosed with PTSD because of Brexit, speaking movingly of the “profound impact” it has had on her life.

Antonia Harrison, who represents the party in Havant, near Portsmouth, said “something died in me… I just gave up” after Britain left the European Union.

Speaking at the party’s autumn conference in Brighton, Ms Harrison told The Independent: “I have not been in Sudan fighting in a war, but it has had a profound impact on me. I am European to my core, and my identity has been ripped out.

The country voted in a way that she didn’t approve and she has PTSD. Perhaps she should stay at home and wrap herself in cotton wool, because she really isn’t mature enough for the adult world. I voted leave. I would do so again in a heartbeat for all the reasons I voted leave at the time. However, had that vote gone the other way, I would have accepted it with good grace, because I am a democrat – indeed, I expected Leave to lose and was resigned to that outcome. I certainly wouldn’t be trying to claim that I have PTSD, which is a specific condition related to trauma – not losing a vote.

“I am European before I am English.”

Well, piss off there, then. Problem solved.

Ms Harrison said the party needs to “wait for people to realise themselves it was a massive mistake” before campaigning to reverse Brexit.

It wasn’t.

  1. “Ms Harrison said the party needs to “wait for people to realise themselves it was a massive mistake” before campaigning to reverse Brexit.”

My sad realisation was that the government chose to drag its feet and we are not there yet. Should referendum remorse ever set in then there may well be no easy access to whatever remains of the EU.

  2. A few months ago I would’ve given her my EU passport for her to fuck off there but now I might need it myself if I decide to move to Hungary.

  3. During 11 years working in psychiatric medicine l nursed quite a few people with ptsd or where it was a factor. Knowing what those people went through and how it affected them has left me with zero patience for pathetic idiots like this councillor.
What she experienced over brexit was most likely nothing more than a prolonged and obsessive tantrum and, like all good narcissists, she has fantasised about having ptsd so she can avoid facing reality and gain victim points.
By making this claim she has effectively insulted all those who genuinely suffer from ptsd.

  4. ps the thought of 70 odd people like her having a say in how this country is governed has traumatised me – can l claim ptsd and where do l claim my victim medal?

  5. A munchie, if ever I’ve seen one, complete with walking frame in one photo. I suspect this woman likes the attention she gets from declaring she has “conditions”.

Even if what she’s saying is true, which I strongly doubt, it still doesn’t amount to an argument to let the EU Commission make our laws for us.

I’d claim to have contracted PTSD from John Major’s decision to force us into the EU without our consent, but my moral system and sense of integrity won’t let me.

  6. People are more than welcome to campaign for a referendum to rejoin the EU, it is their democratic right. All that is necessary is to form a single issue party to push for it. They’ll have to sell to the British people a very different EU arrangement than the one we left. There would be no Maggie rebate, and the UK would have to agree to join the Euro zone and Schengen. Good luck with selling that to the British people, especially the English majority.

  7. PTSD alright

    Pathological traitor, stunningly deluded!

I would pay serious money to get inside this creatures head for five minutes!

Where does hatred, SO intense come from for a country and people who in all probability have treated her with nothing but kindness?

If she ever actually moved to “europe”, she would find out just how “european” she was.

She would find that – having failed to deliver the recalcitrant province back to its rightful overlords – she no longer is of any use.

Guy burgess at least fucked off to his spiritual home. Why can’t these euro whores do the same? There really is nothing stopping them.

  8. This really is truly pathetic whining. What is more depressing is that a wonderful opportunity went to waste. A competent government that was committed to carrying through our independence properly could have made the UK by far the best place in the region to do business. Had we made a success out of leaving the EU might have fallen apart soon after.

  9. Just to correct Zero Sugar above, it was Edward Heath who drove us into the EEC without our consent, not John Major, the latter merely made it worse.
I’m old enough to have voted ‘Leave’ in the 1975 referendum during Harold Wilson’s premiership, we lost, I was disappointed, but I didn’t get PTSD, I just got on with life knowing that, sooner or later, the rest of the nation would eventually work it out – in 2016 it finally did. The 2016 Remain losers need to grow up and get over it.
