Strike off Bankers

Ed Milliband wants to strike off bad bankers.

Labour leader Ed Miliband has given his backing to suggestions that bankers should face being struck off if they are deemed unfit to do the job.

He told the Sunday Times that the banking industry should “take some responsibility” by stopping wrongdoers.

Interesting concept. I can think of some merchant bankers that need striking off, but you won’t find them in the City 👿

  1. Struck off from what exactly? Is there a register or Royal College of Bankers issuing Bankers’ licences?

Clearly, all this serves to demonstrate is that Miliband is a twat.

  2. The FSA already has to approve anyone who advises on financial matters or trades. There are any number of criticisms of the FSA and its exams and approval systems that I won’t re-hash here, but it seems that their chief deficiency according to Miliband is that they won’t disqualify people on the grounds that Miliband doesn’t approve of them. “Twat” seems a little kind, tbh.
