Depressing

I knew that the MSM would engage in a dirty tricks campaign and I have not been disappointed. Michael White in the Groan and Ian Birrell in the Independent say far more about themselves in their ad hominem attacks than they do about the targets of their ire.  So far, the remain camp has nothing to offer but personal attacks and scaremongering (the pound is falling – yeah, so what? It will recover).  We will, it seems, be opening ourselves to all sorts of disaster if we leave. Oh and we might lose Scotland, too.

The quality of debate so far is barely better than what we can expect from the local sixth-form college. If I wasn’t already decided, these people would certainly make me decide pretty sharpish.

Charles Moore sums it up rather well:

…the Leave campaign is essentially a popular movement whereas the Remain campaign is an elite one…

And that is the nub of the matter. It’s them against us. Always has been.

  1. Just a thought for the Scotland may leave lot. They say that if England votes to leave, and Scotland votes to stay, it may lead to the breakup of the UK. They never ask what may happen if England votes to stay, and Scotland votes to leave. Presumably, in that case, they will claim that the whole of the UK has voted to stay, so the Scottish vote does not matter.

  2. “It’s them against us. Always has been.”

Indeed, but there are more of Us than there are of Them.
The Establishment traitors need bringing down a peg or three and charges brought for treason.
