Well, he’s consistent at least.
Google has just reportedly fired one of its workers for circulating a memo discussing the biological inferiority of his female colleagues, and how this made them less suitable for tech. The software engineer in question is James Damore. You’re going to hear a lot about him in the coming weeks: he’ll probably be a star guest on alt-right shows and the rightwing lecture circuit, splashed on the front covers of conservative magazines, no doubt before a lucrative book deal about his martyrdom and what it says about the Liberal Big Brother Anti-White Man Thought Police. For the online right, he’s already a hero: I’ll wager that soon thousands of angry male rightists will change their Twitter profile pictures to Damore’s face, and their Twitter names to I Am James Damore.
The reality is that Damore has been sacked because he was guilty of wrongthink. You don’t have to be right-wing to realise that this is appalling. You don’t have to be right-wing to recognise Damore’s point about that echo chamber where diversity of thought, opinion and conscience is not to be tolerated. You don’t have to be right-wing to recognise that Owen Jones is a twat.
Google took the view that suggesting “a group of our colleagues have traits that make them less biologically suited to that work is offensive and not OK,” which is difficult to quibble with.
Not within your little bubble, maybe. Outside of that bubble – out here in the real world – nothing Damore has said is particularly controversial. That’s probably because out here in the real world we recognise that those biological differences do, actually, exist. And that people like Owen Jones and his fellow SJWs are poison. Out here in the real world, expressing opinions is just fine and dandy. Indeed it is very much OK and it is not offensive. If you are offended so readily, you need to get over yourself.
Interestingly, below the line, some of the comments are pretty scathing.
you don’t say whether you think it right to sack someone for having the ‘wrong’ opinions. I assume you do. It’s a big thing, depriving someone of their livelihood, you know.
And:
That’s why the left does it so much. It will be difficult to get another job and keep a roof over your head but that’s the punishment for speaking out against the leftist agenda
Indeed… Mind you, there are also an awful lot of morons…
Quote….”You don’t have to be right-wing to recognise that Owen Jones is a twat”.
As the resident lefty I think the above quote is spot on. However I don’t actually recognise people like OJ as left-wing. I don’t really know what the title should be for people with views like his but it’s all about identity politics and that has feck all to do with the politics of being left-wing. Then again, I’m a dinosaur in terms of politics and my views are “old” left. The kind of Socialist that has a very important word before it….Democratic.
This is bordering on the libellous, in fact. It should be easy to prove, since Mr Damore’s writing is admirably clear.

“Owen Jones, Idiot”
The best example of tautology I’ve seen today.
Owen didn’t actually read the offending memo then? Nor is he aware that 70 plus female Googlers, having found out their services are valued less than their male counterparts, are looking at taking out a class action against Google for discrimination. Anyone else hear the irony clanging?
A bit of a thickie that Owen Jones.
