It’s amazing what Donald Trump is capable of, frankly.
A Phoenix-area man has died and his wife was in critical condition after the couple took chloroquine phosphate, an additive used to clean fish tanks that is also found in an anti-malaria medication touted by Donald Trump as a treatment for Covid-19.
Well, yes, the Chinese and South Koreans have had positive results with it, so his comments were perfectly reasonable.
“Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure,” the woman told NBC.
Yes, because there has been some success with it. Trump, being Trump, he jumped the gun a bit given that it hasn’t been approved for this purpose, but given that it is already available and side effects are already known, it can be put through the process for approval fairly quickly.
The difference between the fish tank cleaning additive the couple took and the drug used to treat malaria is the way they are formulated.
So these two fuckwits self medicated on the wrong drug and it is Trump’s fault.
Maybe he put a hex on them.
This, though is an important point:
For most people, the virus causes only mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough. For some, older adults and people with health problems, it can cause more severe illness including pneumonia. The vast majority recover.
Which tends to go back to the philosophy of allowing the healthy to get sick and recover. Most will not need to be hospitalised. The important bit being keeping those who are vulnerable isolated.
I read this story the other day, can’t recall where, but apparently they didn’t even have the virus.
The level of stupidity I’ve seen with my own eyes over the past couple of weeks is incredible. People wandering around wearing masks, except the mask is the wrong way around, the face is not sealed and some have their noses poking over the top. The same kind of stupid that you see sometimes with those courier scooter riders, where the skid lid is just placed on the top of their head like grandad’s flat cap.

Clearly the girl in the link above has no idea of the difference between a virus and bacteria. A virus needs a host to survive but a bacteria does not so she won’t find much risk of virus there. But I wonder if she and the others are shitting through the eye of a needle yet. I’d like to challenge these people to do the same in our work’s bogs and see if they are so brave then.

Really? Guardian is lying, hope Trump sues them. I’ve heard Trump promoting chloroquine, never chloroquine phosphate. He’s attacked FDA and said he will over-rule them. USA SG supports this move.
