Whoops!

Looks like that maunder minimum is about to hit.

Because it turns out that even the Sun has gone into a lockdown ‘recession’. Or, more accurately, a deep period of ‘solar minimum’.

Which means that the activity on the Sun’s surface has fallen dramatically, and its magnetic field has become weaker, letting into the environment more of the sort of cosmic rays that cause dramatic lightning storms and interfere with astronauts and space hardware.

They can also can lead to the explosion of ‘sprites’ — clusters of orange and red lights that shoot out of the top of thunderstorms like 60-mile-high palm trees in the sky.

Oh yes, and on top of all that, theoretically it could cause the temperature on Earth to drop to potentially catastrophic new lows.

I have only one thing to say about this.

How dare you!

  1. I expect that most of us will be long gone before we find out one way or another (paupers grave at this rate).

  2. You’re undermining your credibility with clickbait like this. Buried towards the bottom of the article is the line:

“the last solar minimum, which we had in 2009/10, was the deepest for 100 years, and we didn’t die then”

The Daily Mail is generally truthful, but to keep the story interesting they put the sensational stuff at the top. The boring details are always buried towards the bottom of the article.

Steve Sailer wrote a good comparison of Daily Mail vs New York Times journalistic styles:

Of course not. The climate is always changing but always slowly and gradually and, most important to note, harmlessly. I do recall that the period that you refer to involved several feet of snow and a couple of winters with lower than average temperatures. Not a big deal to most of us but a serious dent in the global warming narrative. Another series of slightly colder winters will have the climate change loons scrabbling around for excuses and give the rest of us the chance to point and laugh.

  4. “The science shows us that we’ve had a 1.5 degree rise in 250 years.”

While recovering from an exceptionally cold period known as the Little Ice age.

“It shows us that co2 causes a temperature rise.”

Theoretically or under lab conditions, out in the real world it has demonstrably little or no effect.

“It shows us that human activity since the industrial revolution is the biggest cause of co2 rise in the atmosphere, from 250ppm to 400ppm.”

Industrial activity adds less than 5% to the plus side of the CO2 cycle. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere varies naturally and did so in the past without our help.

“Beyond that, we don’t know anything else, we’re just guessing.”

Scientists actually know a great deal. There is also a great deal that is not known. There is also a great deal of dishonesty among the climate change alarmists. Causing panic over this matter has proven very lucrative for them.

  5. CO2 causes climate change? That’s just data models. And as the covid-19 crisis is demonstrating, we can all see how accurate those turned out to be.
