Delusional

The former prime monster.

Gordon Brown has warned that a second or third wave of coronavirus infection could emanate from poor countries with undeveloped health systems, saying the risks can be controlled only by coordinated international action.

The global crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic will not end until it is “eradicated in every continent”, the former prime minister said.

I don’t know what he’s been smoking, but I might write and ask if he can let me have some. Eradicate. In every continent. Wow. We’ve done such a great job with those other corona viruses such as the common cold, influenza, SARS, MERS, swine flu… I could go on. But we have to eradicate this one in every continent. If wishful thinking was gold bullion, he wouldn’t have had to sell ours off.

It is not going to be eradicated, no matter how much people might wish it to be and no matter how much politicians seize our liberties and destroy whole economies in doing so. When we creep, blinking into the light of the brave new post-apocalyptic world they will have created, Covid-19 will still be there, waiting.

This cretin was our prime minister. Frightening, isn’t it?

  1. Brown and Blair have their snouts in the ‘International’ gravy train. As a Prime Minister he was a complete joke. Unelected too !

  2. If it’s better to appear a fool than open your mouth and confirm it, why do tossers like this fall into the trap so regularly?

  3. There have been flu viruses in the past, some quite bad, some worse than the current one, some that just make you feel a bit rough. They spread through the population, some people get smitten and others don’t. Eventually enough people build up a defence to the latest one and it gradually fizzles out. The pattern, as far as I am aware, is pretty similar each time. So we really should have a better hook on how this particular one is going to pan out and the best way of minimizing the damage. Isn’t that what we have virologists and epidemiologists for? I do wonder what will happen to the countries that managed to contain the virus really well, once the world opens up again.

  4. It’s the same thing with Climate Change. They think that because somehow they won a popularity contest at the last election, that it makes them the saviours of others. The same arrogance that lets them believe they can somehow control the climate of the Earth through taxation, enables them to believe they can change the fundamentals of biological nature in a similar way, through destroying the economy and chucking bucketloads of cash at it. Both will end up collosal failures, with the tab picked up by the taxpayer. Clowns. All of them.

  5. We came very close to completely eradicating other deadly diseases. Right up until the local witch-doctor, shaman, opportunistic pollie, etc. persuaded those to be inoculated that the evil white demons wanted to kill them, steal their souls, etc. etc.
There is no cure for this, and now these diseases are cropping up in previously clear western nations. But now mutated and resistant to treatment.
I am sure that even with his myopic monocular vision Pa Broon can see why.
But he does not want to appear as a bigoted old man.
    We’re doomed, Ah tell ye.

  6. Fourteen day mandatory quarantine for anybody arriving from a country with uncontrolled infection. That will incentivise countries to resolve the problem themselves.

  7. On Radio 4 Today (14/5) talking about ‘extra seasonal deaths’, someone finally pointed out that last Autumns flu was ‘mild’ with relatively few deaths; had it been a bad season many of the recently Covid victims would already have been dead with nobody noticing.
The host did not choose to expand upon this.

  8. So what he’s saying is it’s dangerous to both us and them (Africa for example) to have people move between the two. Obviously it is then safest and kindest to block movement between the two. Sounds good to me.

Maybe we should return all those doctors and scientists that flood into our porous borders each day? Since Africa will need all those doctors and scientists to get them back on their feet to where they were in the 1930’s (colonialism notwithstanding).

That’s the sort of coordinated international action a man could get behind.
