Stunning and Brave

Sadiq Khan.

Sadiq Khan today called for the removal of all slave trader statues in the capital as he promised to personally ‘review and improve’ the diversity of the capital’s landmarks as Black Lives Matter protesters targeted at least 30 monuments across the UK.

The Mayor of London has launched his own Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm after Black Lives Matter protesters pulled down the monument to Edward Colston in Bristol and targeted statues in Parliament Square including Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln was responsible for the thirteenth amendment that abolished slavery in the USA, for Christ’s sake!

Still, if this dickhead wants to do something about slavery, I’m up for that. Perhaps we can arrange for some crowd funding so that he can go to Africa and sort out the Muslim slavers who are currently enslaving Africans?

What a vile hypocrite this toxic little man is.

    • As moqifen reminds me over at Timmy’s blog, Mohammed was a slave owner, slave trader and sanctioned the rape of slaves. Will Sadiq Khan be closing all mosques?

  1. Have these ‘descendants’ of slaves ever read up on the slave trade? Yes it was in humane, and yes people profited from it. Some slave owners were better than others but being a slave can’t have been nice and isn’t acceptable. But the big missing link that they choose to ignore is how did a small crew of white men enslave all the natives???? Answer is the canny tribesmen they first encountered, enslaved other rival tribesmen, those not so smart and clever and sold them to the white men!! One must ask oneself who is really responsible for enabling the slave trade to start up and prosper.
The fact that their ancestors got caught did suffer extreme hardships and humiliation as slaves must be recognised. But the plus side, and there is always a positive side, is that their ancestors now live in democracies where if they put the effort in they will survive comfortably.
Of course I’m sure repatriation could be arranged if they feel they would be better there. I’m convinced there are a few militant people stirring all this up as this is a very tolerant society.
Just don’t pick on Churchill, do they think Hitler would have let them protest?

    • Please be careful, Flamingo.
Rationally posting clear, reasonable truths will earn you the undying enmity of the ‘woke’ brigade and the angry ‘Antifa’ brigade.
Khan will send his personal Plodlets out to check your thinking and charge you with non-compliance.

    • The majority of these activists are’t black, they are rich little white kids who think they have the monopoly on right-think. They are historically illiterate and hard-of-thinking, having been indoctrinated in this poison by the educational system.

      • Historically illiterate and innumerate too, I’d hazard a guess; take away the date-based teaching of history and focus instead on ‘the human experience’ and it becomes very hard to put anything at all into historical context.

For today’s children (and possibly not a few adults), the Romans, the Tudors and the Blitz jumble up into an amorphous ‘back then’, easily outweighed in importance by the slave trade and the activities of Mary Seacole (I wonder, is her statue a two-for-one in Khan’s reckoning?)

It’s all part of the same thinking that has tried to remove the work of ‘dead white European males’ from the curriculum for the study of literature, music and art. I wonder, since formally trained artists are now a comparative rarity, who will produce the new statues and whether their models and their families will be pleased with the results.

      • Spot on there. Also the indoctrination starts early. When we were picking schools for our son one of the schools we rejected took umbrage at our decision not to want him put in RE classes. We told the school that we disagreed with the agreed syllabus that treated all religions as morally equal. The schools are telling kids that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’ despite Islamic theology containing such ‘delights’ as ‘Kill the Jews wherever you find them’.

      • There’s certainly food for thought in the names of donors at UKBLM’s gofundme page – Hannah, Emily, Freya, Georgina, Penelope….

Given that they have the option of anonymity, it’s interesting how many of them have chosen to give their names and include an earnest little comment: sample, from ‘Sarah’:

“I think black lives matter as much as mine.”

    • Was worse than that Flamingo girl, some west Africans bred their own people like farm stock specifically to sell to Arab or European slave traders. The fabled wealth of the Kingdom of Mali was in part based upon this and the British invaded that state because they killed
our diplomats sent to oversee a Treaty whereby Mali would cease to sell their own children into slavery.
To be fair, the ‘English’ were known to sell their own children to Vikings in the early medieval period but that was to alleviate family poverty rather than to enrich the state.

If anyone wants to know Britains most important involvement in slavery refer them to the West Africa Squadron which was actively enforcing Britain’s ban on slavery while we were still in an existential war with Napoleon (the guy who re-enslaved Haiti after an earlier version of their revolution had freed them).
That Squadron was still at work early 20C, in the Arabian Gulf.

  2. I whole-heartedly agree with Mayor Khan around the need for more statues in London that commemorate the overlooked contribution of marginalised groups such as women, minorities and so forth. Shall we start, say, with a truly world-historical figure, a hugely empowered woman who fought the patriarchy and became the first female Prime Minister in the history of our island nation? Come on Mayor Khan, what are you waiting for? You must surely approve of a towering statue of Margaret Thatcher?

    • Just to confuse their poor addled brains even more, who was the first Prime Minister to ensure that, despite resistance from her ministers, research into climate change was pursued? Step forward Margaret Thatcher, a beacon of hope for true environmentalists everywhere – if only she’d not been so damned white.

      • Except I don’ think the Police were running away. They were withdrawing, in some disarray, but clearly under command of Officers sans yellow bibs (Sargents ?) to a pre-arranged defensive position (underneath the arches) where they were replaced by reinforcements.

  3. Better not tell them about Charles II who, after his restoration, declined to free the thousands of Royalists condemned by Cromwell’s republic to plantation slavery in the West Indies because he thought the property rights of their owners more important.

  4. How about a new statue for Earl Grey who took the first Abolition of Slavery Act (1807) through the Commons with the remarkable majority of 283 to just 16 nay-sayers, or his boss, the little known Prime Minister Lord Grenville who took it through the Lords. How about Wellington who expended much diplomatic power and influence strong-arming other nations, including our Allies, into copying or at least complying with our unilateral ban

Can everyone spot the problem ?

      • Sargon has just updated on youtube.

        Gladstone too apparently.

This is not a rational movement in any meaningful sense. It is infantilised and spoilt children who have no understanding of anything whose tantrum has been magnified a thousandfold by an equally infantilised and spoilt meeja.

I worry about the backlash that will come. I care nothing for these people but I am concerned for the country I love and what the anger and exasperation of the silent majority might do when it breaks.

        • If the story that I’ve seen in the Daily Mirror recently is even loosely connected to the truth then the backlash has already started against the racialists of BLM and their far Left handmaidens. According to the Mirror story a teacher (who what a surprise) put up a BLM poster in her window only to be visited by a group telling her that ‘All Lives Matter’. She took the poster down fearing retribution, something I don’t agree with as she should have the right to peacefully express her view, but it shows something of the level of anger that has been stirred up in Leeds where this incident happened, over the thugs of BLM and the Left. I do fear for the future I really do.

          • Yes something similar happened at a BLM rally yesterday. Where “far right racists” counter demonstrated. Funny how the media uses language. BLM is never correctly labelled far left racists, but anyone who dares to oppose them is a far right racist. If these scumbags didn’t have double standards, they would have none at all.

Found it. As for the “go back to Africa” chants – well, if it is so awful here, then why not go somewhere else more to one’s liking? I also like the disingenuous claim that ending racism has become controversial. No, it hasn’t. What is controversial is the attempt to impose Marxism via the back door, using intimidation and violence, the defacing of memorials and the outright thuggery. I disapprove of thuggery, but I’m not surprised that it has brought out an equal and opposite response and won’t lift a finger to stop BLM activists getting a taste of their own.

          • I have a feeling that the US did at one time have some kind of programme to repatriate any African Americans who wanted to leave. I seem to recall that there weren’t many takers and most of the ones that went came straight back.

          • It ended up as Liberia., a land for freed slaves where they could breathe the free air of liberty.
Wonder what happened to the place.

          • If I recall correctly the migrants from America set themselves up as a permanent governing class that oppressed the shit out of the native Liberians

          • Britain got their first, setting up Sierra Leone as refuge for the slaves freed by the West Africa Squadron (passim) who feared re-enslavement should they return home.
Same result as Liberia, ancestors of the freed slaves lording it over the indegines.

          • According to a pop up on that mirror page my full postcode has had 26 violent crimes and 34 anti-so ial behaviours in 12 months, blimey there’s only about 20 houses !

          • That was the point I was trying to make about Live Local closing down their comments because of hundreds of ‘far right racist postings’ probably means not supportive of BLM in the required way.
