In a Time of Universal Deceit

Telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Ron Johnson, who was head of consumer products at Riot Games, shared an image detailing Mr Floyd’s criminal record.

He wrote that it was “no reason to condone his killing” but added: “This type of criminal lifestyle never results in good things.”

Riot Games said the Facebook post was “abhorrent” and told staff Mr Johnson had exercised “poor judgment”.

Really? What did he say that was not factually true? What is abhorrent is a man who breaks into someone’s home and holds a gun at a pregnant woman’s abdomen. Yet people are treating this career criminal as if he was some sort of saint. They are whitewashing historical fact. And pointing out those facts is now thoughtcrime.

Johnson is right – Floyd’s death was unnecessary and the level of restraint uncalled for – given that it resulted in his death. That, now, is a matter for the criminal justice system. However, there is no reason to gloss over Floyd’s criminal history. But that is what is happening.

On 5 June, the company pledged to donate $1m (£790,000) to “accelerate progress” against racism, amid protests following the death of Mr Floyd.

The word the BBC is looking for here is Danegeld. And the Danegeld never leads to good outcomes.

“We must respect that everyone is entitled to their own political views,” wrote Riot Games chief executive Nicolo Laurent.

“I believe Ron exercised really poor judgment here. It resulted in a post that was harmful to many of us and our broader community. It was insensitive and in this moment, it undermines the commitment we’ve made to stand against all acts of injustice, racism, prejudice, and hate.

“Ron understands this and recognises that he will be ineffective as a leader at Riot going forward. As a result, he has resigned, effective today.”

You will notice that the second two paragraphs by this apologist for thoughtcrime contradicts the first. Clearly Mr Johnson does not have an entitlement to express his views – especially when he is merely referring to truth. However, he has been forced to confess his sins as a good comrade during some sort of internal show trial and sent on his way. Also notice that the truth is now “harmful”.

These people are evil.

Except, of course, not the injustice and hate perpetrated by criminals such as Floyd.

    • That doesn’t count because reasons. The black woman he threatened with a gun to her abdomen doesn’t count because reasons. They disgust me. They sicken me to my very core.

  3. I can’t decide whether BLM erupting simultaneously in much of the West is a result of the Frankfurt School, et al, attempting to take advantage of our Covid induced weakness or whether our leaders, sadly especially Boris, are allowing them to run riot in order to diguise their inept handling of the ‘crisis’.
Evil yes, but unleashed in whose interest ?

      • Monied Left. It’s a power grab. Trump was unfeathering their nests and helping ordinary Americans get richer.

        Can’t have that.

        First concocted corona panic.

Now one cop going to court for his brutality is worth burning down your neighbours for.

Anyone voting Democrat now knows they are hostage to arsonists and snowflakes.

  4. Roger Scruton also spoke the truth. He was dismissed too. Riot Games were utterly wrong but there is no protection in the US for wrongful dismissal.
