Why Are We Still Listening?

Sir Patrick Vallence can swivel on it, frankly.

Britons might still have to wear face masks next winter, Sir Patrick Vallance said today.

The chief scientific adviser said the precaution – new to the UK but standard practice in some Asian countries – could be a long-term fix if coronavirus keeps circulating.

Well, that will be forever, then, because this virus isn’t going away, just as all the predecessors haven’t gone away. We will do as we have always done and learn to live with it.

I do not wear a mask. I will never wear a mask. Just because Asian countries do it, it doesn’t follow that we should. If Asian countries all jumped off a cliff would we follow suit? Nor will I be taking Vallence’s vaccine. Why is this charlatan still here? Why has he not been dismissed? Do these people not comprehend the concept of conflict of interest?

On the plus side, when I’m out and about, most people I see are carrying on pretty much as normal. That’s how this insanity will come to an end. People will simply stop playing their game and if enough of us do that, there is nothing they can do about it.

  1. This whole bloody ‘Asian countries wear masks’ trope is driving me crazy. Koreans and Japanese only wear masks when they have a cold with symptoms partly to prevent passing it on but also because it is taboo to blow your nose in public in those cultures so it prevents others being able to see a constant stream of snot running down the wearers face.

The Chinese wear masks because in large urban centres the air is so damn polluted you end up picking it from your teeth if you go for a walk outside, they are a perfectly sensible precaution but nothing to do with virus transmission.

It’s these half truths and gaslighting which has left me skeptical about the whole damn shitshow.

  2. Masks For Ever: the approved establishment message

Fauci was first I saw. Van Tam last week and Boris started saying No, VT glared at him and told him to shut up, Boris complied

Boris off to see Fuhrer Ursula von der Leyen tomorrow (at 4AM like May?)

  3. Wearing a mask makes one anonymous and renders facial recognition cameras useless. Not that I’m bothered as I live in a rural village and rarely travel to any towns, market towns or cities now. Deliveries, dear boy, deliveries. I did go to the pub last night. Very enjoyable and a nice, spicy chicken and rice curry too (owner’s wife is a Thai lady and a damn fine cook). A nice eat for a couple of quid and three Stellas. But Stella is now 4.6% ABV. It used to be 5.2% a few years ago. Bloody beer duty is killing the quality.

  4. All that comes to my mind is a comment frequently used by a colleague from when I worked: “Bollocks to the lot of ’em”.

    Succinct, yet says it all.

  5. I hate damned masks. I’m sick to death of the fucking things. They make my glasses steam up, and so I’ve no choice but to remove my glasses. Consequently (as I’m very short-sighted) I can’t see clearly more than about a foot in front of me when I’m in shops or on public transport.

Masks have very little to do with the coronavirus. They’re really about control. Politicians love to control the great unwashed. “Wear a mask or you’ll receive a £10,000 fine.” They’re going to force us to wear face muzzles forever. They’re not going to want to give up that control. Bastards.

    • Face coverings are not law, they are government guidelines, so how can you be punished if you have not broken a law?

Should you refuse the PCN you will be reported to the CPS who will then decide whether to prosecute. If they do, since you have not violated any law, it will be laughed out of court.

Right now, you can’t be ‘forced’ to wear one. This also applies to leaving your house, how far to go and where, how many people you can meet, how many households can come together and social distancing. None of this is in either the Coronavirus Act 2020 or the Health Protection Act 1984. No law, no offence.

  6. By the way, I should point out that I hadn’t watched the Delingpole video when I posted my previous comment. I’ve just watched several minutes of the video, and of course he’s right. It is about control. Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together can see that.

  7. Who the hell is going to sack him or indeed any of them?
Queenie maybe as they are all Her Government?
Whoever bankrolls the charlatans, presumably bug pharma.
    Klaus Schwab?
    Billy no mates?

  8. Dear Mr Longrider

As I mentioned back in July, face nappies are a wonderful tool for government:

A public display of obedience (PDO) – everyone can see the dissenters.

A fine opportunity – “That’ll be £200/£400/£800/£1,600/£3,200 thank you very much, sir“. Kerching!

Producer capture – corony corporatism – producers and purveyors of fine face nappies get to make shedloads directly from government dictats. If they are best mates of Sir Vallance Bedspread, Witless or Boris, well, that’s coincidental.

It seems face nappies are becoming fashion amongst the yoof – the new normal, innit?

  9. @Dr Evil

Wearing a mask makes one anonymous and renders facial recognition cameras useless

Upper face – Eyes – are sufficient for facial ID in most cases

    @Simon Maxwell
You’re exempt. If you want exempt ‘badge’ (aka yellow star) pick up a free ‘Sunflower Lanyard’ in any supermarket

“It is about control. Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together can see that”

Indeed. Why didn’t you see this before? I’ve been saying it since February and LR and most disagreed with me

    • “Indeed. Why didn’t you see this before? I’ve been saying it since February and LR and most disagreed with me”

Oh, I realised that face muzzles were about control, and not really about the virus *months* ago.

  10. As Bloke in Lower Hutt said, it’s standard practice in several major Asian cities because of the pollution – the masks allow you to breathe without having to chew the air. They’ve been wearing them for decades. Nothing to do with any virus.

The masks haven’t been a big issue for me really. I think they look silly and know for certain they achieve nothing, so I have taken it to extremes. I have one with a zippered mouth, a very good imitation of Bane’s and for Christmas I’ll be the grinning Grinch.

I only need to wear one on my brief visits to Local Shop. And to be honest, they don’t care much. The staff routinely have their noses exposed, bvery sensible since most of them are even older than me and restricting their breathing all day is not good. Also, they can’t always understand my accent when I’m masked, they don’t bat an eyelid if I take it off to be heard.

But then, the village has a population in the hundreds, nobody visits here (the pub used to be a popular one but the restrictions have screwed that) and I live two miles out of town at the end of a track. So nobody ‘just passes’ here. My nearest neighbour would need to have a telescope that can see through trees if they wanted to report me for non-compliance.

Dr. Evil is also right. The masks are about control. It’s just like ‘Invasion of the Bodysnatchers’ now. Masked people who see someone non-assimilated point and scream.

I rarely go anywhere these days (retired and a bit of a natural hermit anyway) but I’ll wear a mask for my short interactions with the idiots just so they’ll leave me alone.

But it won’t be a plain one. If the government are going to take the piss, so am I.

  11. They fail on their own logic!
Japan has a higher death rate from seasonal influenza than the US or Europe and about the same as UK.
So despite obsessive mask wearing for a decade, Japan has a higher rate of disease transmission/ death than the US / Europe( Look at Worldometers)
Are these muppets incapable of basic logic?

  12. Japan has a higher death rate from seasonal influenza than the US or Europe and about the same as UK.

Indeed and when I mention this I get the yeah, but no, but yeah, but… Response.
