Idiocracy

Idiocracy is a satirical film. Now, however, I suspect Poe’s Law has come into play.

When was the exact moment we got infected with Covid? Thousands of Britons question how they caught the disease despite following the rules

Thus follows a catalogue of cases where people complain about catching Covid despite following the rules. It is at this point I find myself sinking my head into my palms in utter despair. The level of stupid has reached a peak I previously thought unlikely.

Covid 19 and similar viruses are airborne. The rules are back-of-a-fag-packet, self-contradictory and about as effective and logical as pinning a garlic bulb to your front door. A moment spent analysing them would tell you this. A set of rules created by cretins for the consumption of morons – and now those morons are wondering why they didn’t work.

Fer cryin’ out loud. Stop the world, I want to get off.

  1. I would have thought that the blame would lie with those evil people who aren’t doing the rituals correctly. In reality some of the more sensible precautions may possibly tip the odds in your favour, but they’re not going to protect you 100%, that should be obvious surely.

We are planning to have my mum and my two brothers over for the Xmas dinner, meaning that three separate households are coming to visit. One of my brothers has decided not to come worried about breaking the rules and worried about catching it. I think that it is less that people are stupid, they are just hopelessly ill informed. Getting your information from the mainstream media will do that to you.

Exactly! When do we start to build the Wicker Man for these unbelievers?

One key stat for your brother:

    – In UK only ~350 under 60, with no pre-existing morbidities, have died with Covid 19

350 out of 70 Million over 11 months. Does he drive? x5 more die in RTAs in 11 months

    • Interesting.

I live in Canada. We’ve had to cancel our plans to visit our two sons (and our only grandson, who has yet to turn 2!) in Edmonton, Alberta due to the Alberta government imposing harsher restrictions.

So, I did some searching online and found this:

      https://www.alberta.ca/stats/covid-19-alberta-statistics.htm

You have to click on ‘Comorbidities’ near the top to find… 12 people (out of over 4 million, or less than 2%) have died since Covid began who did not have any underlying conditions.

We’re tanking world economies for this? Bloody hell.

      Cheers

  4. My brother is 58 and has high blood pressure so I suppose he might be a bit at risk. He is also self employed so just being Ill with it would be a problem.

According to received wisdom I have a compromised immune system due to having type two diabetes. However I am very rarely ill so my immune system seems to be doing its job just fine.

Useful info, thanks. 0.0003% is similar to UK 0.0005%
