Peado Guy?

This could be interesting.

A drag queen has launched a legal action against Laurence Fox after the actor labelled him and others ‘paedophiles’ during a bizarre online spat.

Crystal – who was a contestant on the first season of hit show Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK – confirmed he has filed defamation proceedings against the 42-year-old ex-actor.

Deputy chair of LGBT charity Stonewall Simon Blake and Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp are also named as claimants.

All three were falsely branded ‘paedophiles’ by Mr Fox after they called him ‘racist’.

Two things here. Firstly, this was obviously tit for tat name calling and as they felt free to make unsubstantiated slurs they should have been big enough to accept the incoming as a consequence – it is blindingly obvious if you read the exchange in full context what Fox was doing. What we have here is the equivalent of the playground bullies crying to mummy because they got a taste of their own medicine. I would hope that a court dismisses this as under libel law common abuse is not libel.

Secondly, only recently Elon Musk’s peado guy case rather set a precedent. This one is no different – it is common abuse and common abuse is not libel and hurty feelings are not for a court to resolve.

At the time, Crystal said: “An accusation of paedophilia is one of the oldest homophobic tropes, and it was very shocking to have that levelled at me, not just by Mr Fox, but also his many followers who believed him.

“I may have had to endure homophobic bullying as a child, but I will not tolerate it as an adult.”

The lack of self-awareness is staggering.

  1. Whilst i admire and respect Lawrence, getting into any discussion with groups who resort to abuse and name calling just isn’t worth it, without a trace of irony they always accuse you of what they themselves do.
I’ve found its best to ignore them, they tend to hang around in lefty echo chambers anyway so not too hard to avoid and you’re not missing anything worthwhile by avoiding such places.

    • I think that having entered the fray of politics, he has no choice. In a way, he is shining a spotlight on their behaviour. Any reasonable person reading the exchange can see what he was doing. I believe that is the point here.

  2. Given how keen many drag queens are so keen on being in nurseries, schools and libraries to meet and lecture children, I believe Laurance Fox would win as imo many are ‘paedos’

Crystal etc are blind to the can of worms they’re opening

Amusing that C4 Hollyoaks is doing peados this week

  3. This line from the Mail’s story is strange:
“All three were falsely branded ‘paedophiles’ by Mr Fox after they called him ‘racist’.”
Either it should read “… after they falsely called him ‘racist’” or the word “falsely” should be removed altogether.

    • Quite so. They presume the original slur had legs while the response didn’t. Fox was merely slinging their slurs back at them. It was obvious from the context that he was not being literal.
