Oh, just too funny…
The BBC is facing a backlash after it published an article about lesbians who felt pressured into having sex with trans women over fears of being branded ‘transphobic’.
More than 8,000 people signed an open letter to the broadcaster after journalist Caroline Lowbridge described the pressures three lesbian women had allegedly faced from trans women to have sex.
In the piece, Ms Lowbridge attempted to discover how ‘widespread’ the issue was across the country and said several people had contacted her about the pressures to ‘accept the idea that a penis can be a female sex organ’.
The author acknowledged it was ‘difficult to determine the true scale of the problem’ and referred to a survey carried out by the campaigning group Get the L Out – which reported 56 per cent of respondents had felt pressured or been coerced into accepting a trans woman as a sexual partner.
Now, more than 8,000 people have signed an open letter condemning the ‘propaganda’ piece and accused the BBC of transphobia.
I shouldn’t laugh, really I shouldn’t. But…
This is all so silly. There was a time when the British, while quite liking our eccentrics, were somewhat intolerant of sexual minorities. Thankfully we moved on and decided that people’s sexual tastes were nobodies business but their own. For most people who have strange tastes, being left alone was all that they were asking for and they went away happy. But now we have a minority screaming “I’m special, how dare you ignore me, don’t you know that the universe revolves around me?”. For once I agree with the BBC. Anyway, the BBC are never wrong. I’ve followed the sequence of events when people have challenged them for broadcasting blatant falsehoods. They come back with black is white, up is down and short is long and claim that they were right all along. In this case I think that they were right so they should be able to defend their position.
Why on earth do the angry 8,000 think they are entitled to challenge the lived experience of the three lesbians. Outrageous!
The Babylon Bee sums up the whole nonsense perfectly
