Oh Dear, How Sad,

Never mind.

Fraudsters are directing people on Facebook to sites claiming to sell Covid vaccine passes for people who haven’t been jabbed, the BBC has found.

People in the UK are required to prove their vaccination status in order to access some places and to avoid self-isolation after travelling abroad.

But posts on the social media site are offering unvaccinated people certification to get around the rules.

Cue outrage from the usual suspects. However, who created this market? Who created medical apartheid? Frankly, if this undermines the evil that we are currently enduring, then I won’t be complaining about it.

For Mr Benton, the task of catching fraudsters is a difficult one, and counterfeiting is “impossible” to stop.

Actually, it is very simple to stop. I could do it in five minutes flat.

  1. It makes me think of the failure that was prohibition. One interesting thing that I only recently found out was that when prohibition was in the pipeline, those who drank beer and wine were under the impression that only spirits were going to be banned. They cheered on the bansturbater thinking that it was only other people’s tipples that were under threat.

This story has restored my faith in human nature just a tiny bit.

    • Prohibition, and its descendants, came to my mind too. This is a perfect example of the way legislation creates criminal activity beyond that which it specifically proscribes.

      • And they never learn. This situation is slightly different in that they have specifically created the situation. No passports means no black market.

  2. Shopping again today, Asda this time. There were no challenges despite my not wearing my pretend exemption ticket – I really am exempt – and I had a nice chat with the lady on the checkout as usual. Unfortunately there were a fair few sheeple also in attendance so indoctrination has still to loosen its grip.

    • Tesco in Carmarthen today, I didn’t see anyone else not wearing a mask. I wasn’t challenged, but I got some bothered looks at times. Also, nice chat with the checkout lady.

  3. I’m picturing a wartime spiv muttering out of the side of his mouth ‘Oi mate, need a vaccine pass? Nylons? Butter?’

  4. Here in New Zealand the government is planning to outlaw tobacco for youngsters, intending that they will never be able to buy some.Well good luck with that one. Anyone for shares in a fast offshore boat?

    • No need. When I moved to the Tasman/Marlborough district and was looking at properties, a lot of the rural properties had tobacco drying barns as “features”.

Growing tobacco was a well established industry so $5 of tobacco seeds and a bit time and the problem is worked around quite profitably. Plus the Government has lost all that lovely tax from tobacco sales (and no, I don’t smoke and dislike the smell of tobacco).

    • Tobacco is a natural herbal product, isn’t it? Much used by ancient tribal peoples, in their peace ceremonies?

Doesn’t their ban make them warmongering technophiles intent on crushing the natural world, or something?
