Yuri Kidding Me…

WTF!?! Seriously, WTF?

Have we reached peak insanity yet? Next they will be cancelling Solzhenitsyn. Give it time. They’ve already tried it with Dostoevsky.

  1. From the hitchhikers.fandom.com:

“The Golgafrinchan Ark Fleet Ship B was a way of removing the basically useless citizens from the planet of Golgafrincham. A variety of stories were formed about the doom of the planet, such as blowing up, crashing into the sun or being eaten by a mutant star goat. The ship was filled with all the middlemen of Golgafrincham, such as the telephone sanitisers, account executives, hairdressers, tired TV producers, insurance salesmen, personnel officers, security guards, public relations executives, and management consultants.”

My best guess is that all the cancelled will end up on Ark A or Ark C, i.e. those that rule, think, or do useful work.

  2. So the bandwagon jumpers have now descended to spite in their attempts to get their names in the papers. No surprises there, then.

  3. Can Luxembourg be seen from space?
How can the village – sorry – nation that brought us Horace Batchelor have sunk so low?

    • Surely Horace Batchelor was from Keynsham, spelt K-E-Y-N-S-H-A-M, Bristol? Or am I showing my age? Only those of a similar vintage will understand.

  4. Actually Solzhenitsyn is not a good example. He was a great writer, but a nasty Russian nationalist.

Solzhenitsyn was pro-Putin. He may well have supported the current war.

    • I suggest that you research the reasons why the Security Council of Russia decided unanimously to mount the Military Operation in Ukraine. President Putin reluctantly agreed the council’s decision.
Trump was decried as a Nazi before Putin and over the years various other leaders. The fact that Putin’s family fought against the SS divisions in WW2 would suggest that he isn’t one. I mention this because there is so much utter garbage written about Russia, Putin et all that some accurate, truthful clarity would be welcome.

      • “… President Putin reluctantly agreed the council’s decision…”

If you believe that crap, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

  5. It matters not to the wokeloons how historical a figure is, especially if that figure is white. Gagarin was the first human to go into space (and return safely) and should be remembered and commemorated for that, irrespective of his nationality.

  6. I thought the height of absurdity and spite was when Niantic announced that Russian kiddies could no longer play ‘Pokémon Go’.

Clearly, I underestimated people’s capacity for useless virtuesignalling.

  7. So… for sixty-one years, they’ve had absolutely no trouble with him hailing from one of the world’s most brutal dictatorships, which was responsible for killing as many as 10 million Ukrainians in the 1930s?

  8. Ignoring the stupid & counterproductive silliness of the above ( Yes, removing honours from a brave man like Gagarin is really idiotic, isn’t it? ) …
More on Putin – carried over from an earlier thread – please read the links?

UPDATE – some background – there follow four links – one a murder oredered by Putin that wasn’t mentione earlier & the other three are “philosophers” whom Putin admires – all Christo-fascist Russian- ultranationalis loonies, akin to the “race” idiots of nazism.

    One: Murder of Boris Nemtsov

    Two: Aleksandr Dugin

Next up – in Putin’s own words, the greatest disaster of the C20th … was not WWII, oh no, it was the collapse & implosion of the Sovunion.
All of which should tell you something, shouldn’t it?

  9. Thinking about all this it has occurred to me that it has a lot to do with the infantalisation of the masses. There is something about playground politics in it, you can’t be in our gang anymore because now we don’t like you.
