Oh, Good Grief!

This story is doing the rounds. Ugly bloke transforms into an even uglier woman and claims that it’s all God’s fault or something.

The Church of England’s ‘first’ non-binary vicar said it was ‘difficult’ when they came out to their wife and three children after having a ‘moment of revelation’ while reading the story of Adam and Eve.

Bingo Allison, 36, who defines as gender-queer and uses the pronouns ‘they/them’, experienced an epiphany seven years ago while reading Genesis 1-3 in the Old Testament.

The vicar, who works in Liverpool, said they came to terms with their gender identity while reading the story and realised: ‘There’s space in God’s creation for change and transformation, just because you’re created one way doesn’t mean that you can’t live another’.

Bingo also said their wife found things ‘difficult’ when they first came out because ‘obviously you marry what you think it a straight guy and obviously things are more complicated than that’.

The story itself is the usual narcissistic posturing and the wife is the victim of the narcissism. I’m really not sure God thinks that’s all okay and I’m pretty sure Genesis didn’t mean toss your wife aside because you want to change sex. It’s a long time since I’ve read it, but I don’t recall anything like that. Snakes and apples, yes, but gender-queer? Nope, don’t remember that at all.

However, that’s not what royally pisses me off.  It is that every bloody media outlet panders to this absurd mangling of our language. We only use ‘they’ in the singular when we don’t know enough about the person to use he or she. In this case, we do. Using ‘they’ in this context where we should be using ‘he’ because that is what he is – a bloke – or, even, heaven forfend, use ‘she’ if we are going to go along with the transition – although given the images, that’s a tall ask – but ‘they’ is such an irritating distraction, it makes the prose impossible to read without wanting to throw things at the screen.

There is no such thing as gender-queer. It’s a stupid and immensely irritating fad.

Stop pandering to this nonsense. Just stop it.

    Genesis 1-3, eh?
*Quick search ( New International Version)*
Genesis 1-3 “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”

    Huh?
How does he get from ‘let there be light’ to ‘i think I’m actually a woman’?
He’s skipped a few steps there. Would he like to fill in the blanks?

Is he actually familiar with scripture?
Couldn’t find a passage about being true to yourself?
Or go with Luke 12:2 ” There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.” Or in other versions “You can’t keep your true self hidden forever”.

Those would make more sense (even if out of context).
Is this the standard of priests these days?
    No wonder I’m non-denominational.

    • Might alternatively have meant Genesis chapters 1 to 3, in which case we have (King James version)

Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he them; male and female created he them.”

Genesis 2:2: “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.”

I don’t see where that leaves space for “change and transformation”. Of course I’m just someone with the Project Gutenberg King James Version on his phone, not a C of E trained vicar.

    • Most of the first chapter of Genesis is about the separation of dualities: light/dark, heaven/earth, water/land. How the f*** he gets “non-binary” from all that beats me.

“Of course I’m just someone with the Project Gutenberg King James Version on his phone, not a C of E trained vicar.”

Didn’t we have a Reformation or something that was all about that kind of thing?

      • Yes, and they didn’t like it one little bit. The proles reading the Bible in their own language, whatever next? Well, I guess non binary vicars…

  2. I’m pretty sure that the Book of Leviticus has a rule against dressing in women’s clothing. I found it a bit puzzling because I though that men and women dressed pretty much alike in Biblical times.

  3. From that Daily Fail story on this ‘Bingo’ person:

“A recent survey by Stonewall found that more than a quarter of younger people now identify as LGBT.

The LGBTQ+ charity claimed 71 per cent of Gen Z respondents – those aged 16 to 26 – identify as straight.”

I think this poll carried out by Stonewall is bollocks. There’s no way that 29% of 16 to 26-year-olds are BLT. For one thing, the questions asked in polls can skew the response. I imagine Stonewall phrased the poll’s questions to ensure they got the answers they wanted.

For another thing, being transsexual now seems to be considered a trendy thing by young people, and so I suspect that will have contributed to this figure of 29%. I believe that the far more likely proportion of 16 to 26-year-olds who are BLT is under ten percent.

    • I’d no more trust a Stonewall survey than I’d trust a random on the street trying to sell me one of London’s bridges. I strongly suspect that this Stonewall survey was a self selected one with a bias towards those surveyed giving the result that Stonewall wants.

      • Conducted on Brighton beach. During a botty-boy parade. By a freak in a leather mankini.

    • Such utter blasphemy, publicly uttered, by a ‘minister’, going unpunished by fire and brimstone is evidence of the mercy of God 🙂

  4. “However, that’s not what royally pisses me off. It is that every bloody media outlet panders to this absurd mangling of our language.”

Yup! And they show no sign of stopping.

  5. Being BLT is a fad and a handy way for young people to minimise the risk of being targeted as a bigot/racist/phobe, being part of a victim froup thus themselves.

  6. O tempora! O mores. They said this over 2000 years ago and humans are still being utterly stupid now. We have to remember that the sane 95% don’t share this non-binary, man=woman nonsense.
