Tedious Twat

We know what fascism is, thankyou very much.

Jacob Rees-Mogg was today forced to deal with an eco-activist stage invader jibing about ‘fascism’ during his speech to the National Conservatism conference in Westminster.

The former Cabinet minister’s address was interrupted by an Extinction Rebellion demonstrator shortly after he began speaking this morning.

The man, dressed in a shirt, tie and blazer, joined Mr Rees-Mogg at the lectern and told the audience: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, you all look very nice people and I’m sure you are fantastically nice people.

‘But I would like to draw your attention to a few characteristics of fascism.’

At this point, Mr Rees-Mogg then covered the microphone in front of him and the protester was bundled off stage by men in suits as the audience booed.

An XR bully presuming to lecture us in fascism is beyond the irony event horizon.

Fascism:

characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracymilitarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation and race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.[2][3]

Sounds a lot like XR, frankly.

  1. They should have asked for a credit card and driver’s license and then let him continue.
    Bullshit will out.

  2. Ha! These days everyone and everything is a fascist.
See also racist, sexist, mysoginist, transphobe, islamophobe, etc etc

If someone disagrees with you, they are automatically Hitler. Literally.

  3. Similar to the way that we still use the terms East and West even though we know that the Earth is a sphere, I think that the notions of Left and Right in ideological terms are more like a circle than a line. Fascism after all is a specific form of Socialism. Fascism is very keen in discrimination based on race and other factors whereas Socialism is, at least in theory, about equality and not being discriminatory. But there are far more similarities than differences. That forcible suppression of opposition is needed because both ideologies are based on fallacies and as such are incapable of being defended against criticism other than with violence. I see myself as being somewhere on the opposite side of this circle. XR man thinks that makes me a fascist, no mate, the fascists aren’t round this side, they’re over there right next to your lot.

  4. I don’t know. With that definition I think a case could be made that we are a fascist country.

  5. “I would like to draw your attention to a few characteristics of fascism”

    And, unwittingly, he did.

Frankly, the modern Tories are too close to fascism for my liking, but that hardly makes them stand out in today’s landscape. Most of the mainstream complaints against them seem to be that they’re not fascistic enough. Never has the anglospheric political class been more animated about a perceived threat of fascism (let’s be honest: most of ’em didn’t give a monkey’s during the 1930s), and never has its general worldview been more actually fascistic in character.
