Er, Excuse Me…

Since when has UK politics been any of your business?

Belgium’s transgender deputy Prime Minister has blasted Rishi Sunak and told him not to ‘join the bullies’ following his ‘hurtful’ speech about gender issues at the Tory conference.

Petra De Sutter, the most senior transgender politician in Europe, accused Mr Sunak of ‘fuelling transphobia’ after he said ‘a man is a man and a woman is a woman’.

Mr Sunak told the audience in Manchester on Wednesday: ‘We shouldn’t get bullied into believing that people can be any sex they want to be. They can’t, a man is a man and a woman is a woman. That’s just common sense.’

Ms De Sutter condemned Mr Sunak’s comments on Thursday, describing them as ‘hurtful and very disappointing’.

‘These words are fuelling transphobia and endangering the lives of many people around the world,’ Ms De Sutter wrote on Twitter. ‘Trans women are women. And in no way a threat to others. Don’t join the real bullies Rishi Sunak.’

Here’s the deal, you stick to Belgian politics and leave our politics to us. Keep your nose out of our business. We are no longer a part of the EU and this is nothing to do with you, so fuck off.

  1. These words are fuelling transphobia and endangering the lives of many people around the world,

    Really?
I’m agree with the statement about men being men, etc, but I can’t say this statement makes me want to pick up the torches or pitchforks and go on a tranny hunt.
    So endangering lives?
    *Cough* Bullshit *cough*

    • If you have swallowed the propaganda and believe you are a special member of a special group then anything other than full blooded support may be seen as a direct personal attack.

Which is why identity politics is so corrosive and leads to schism over and over again.

    • One of the characteristics of this cult is the hysterical over reaction to any perceived slight – i.e. perfectly rational and objective criticism.

  2. For once we have a politician saying something that he actually believes to be true, although I suspect that he is just indulging in some cynical electioneering. If the winds of public opinion were blowing the other way he would probably be saying the opposite. Public opinion would normally have just been just yeah whatever anyway, it is only because there has suddenly been a big fuss made about the issue that people are getting pissed off about it.

  3. Wasn’t it Belgium who had a monumentally obese Minister for Health? If so, I guess it’s only fitting they have a former gynaecologist who can’t tell the difference between men and women…

  4. And to think Belgium used to be so nice in the olden days. Brugge, beer, 70’s retrofood such as carbonnade flammande and savoury crepes, small beer bars. Gone to shit now.

  5. Its not just the genders bollocks (if the bollocks are still attached and producing), its everything now.
Unless you join the kumbaya’s and enthuse over how wondeful today’s latest trend is you’re condemned as a denier or luddite or whatever, i offer bloody battery cars as evidence, i don’t want one and have no objection to everyone else wanting and having one, good luck to them, but that doesn’t please the evangelists, its not enough to be neutral you have to show awe and respect at how wonderful and virtuous they are for being pioneers.

I wish they’d all sod off and leave us alone.

  6. True Judd. Freedom of choice to them means that they should be free to choose what we can have.
