Fancy That

Something new.

Polyamorous relationships are having a moment. Or at least they are across the Atlantic, where New York magazine last week sought to distract its readers from the January blues with an extensive feature devoted to the trending lifestyle choice. With a cover featuring a cuddling quad (that’s a foursome) of cats, it offered “a practical guide for the curious couple” and even got Whoopi Goldberg hinting at her own non-monogamous experiences on US talkshow The View.

Polyamorous, eh? When I was growing up we just called it sleeping around.

  1. Polyamoury is wrong … you can’t mix Greek and Roman like that. It should be either Multiamoury or Polyphylic. Pick one or the other.

Such relationships rarely last and don’t end well.

  2. But for the opposite gender it was “Being a bit of a lad.”
With syphilis and the galloping gon as a bonus.

  3. So, being a slag is a “thing” now?

And, WTF kind of man allows his woman to bang another man? Where I come from that is instant sacking of the woman for gross misconduct and an extensive disciplinary procedure on the pub car park for the man. Then hospital, then clink.

  4. “Polyamorous relationships are having a moment.” That must be a very long moment. It’s been a few years since Tim N. posted on his blog. He would quite regularly comment on people either promoting their polygamous lifestyle or bewailing outcomes from it without recognising the cause.
