Oh Fuck Off!

Carol Vordeman.

Carol Vorderman today led a Left-wing backlash to a high-profile petition calling for a general election – by demanding a second EU referendum takes place at the same time.

The ‘Call a General Election’ petition on the Parliament website has passed more than two million signatures after racking up an extra 100,000 every hour.

Posted by pub owner Michael Westwood and shared by hundreds of social media users including the actor Michael Caine, it complains Sir Keir Starmer has ‘gone back on promises‘.

Former Countdown host Ms Vorderman was among those mocking the online protest, writing on X: ‘Right wingers stamping their feet saying call a General Election.

‘Tell you what…. Let’s have a Rejoin the EU referendum at the same time? Six million people signed that petition.’

So you don’t like it when others play by your rules? Oh dear, how sad, never mind. Now fuck off and leave us to enjoy ourselves you vile woman.

  1. Those proposing the petition and those voting for it know it will have no effect apart from perhaps making the Government realise how quickly it has become unpopular.

I wonder how many of the 2m are right wingers or whether they are Labour voters who realise that their job prospects and pay rises have been significantly harmed.

    • Matt Goodwin made a fair point. It’s a useful survey of those constituencies to target by the likes of Reform come the next election and in any by-elections and local ones.

  2. Nine million or so people voted for Labour in the last general election. Some may still vote for anyone wearing a red rosette but 2 million signing a petition is not insignificant.

  3. It appears that this untalented woman will do anything to keep her name, and figure (ooh, look at my pert bum) in the public eye. Apart from being a rabid lefty, what is she for? Let’s hope she sinks back into the oblivion she deserves.

  4. There was a petition as she points out.
That petition was then debated in Parliament, as it should be.
In fact there’s a link on the petition page to a three hour debate about it.
Parliament decided to respect the declared will of the electorate as declared by the referendum.

Let’s see if this one gets a debate.
Even if they decide to say “we respect the result of the general election” after a couple hours waffling, at least it’s been discussed.
Of course, more likely, they will just ignore it and show exactly how much they value the democratic values.

    • Agreed, but at least it gives the opposition parties the opportunity to light a fire under Starmer’s buttocks without being silenced by the Speaker (as demonstrated recently over Southport).

  5. She spent most of her working life selling debt consolidation companies and their millstone-like death grip on poor folks drowning in debt. Her conscience went only as far as her wallet.
Now she is further to the left than Lenin – maybe the plastic has seeped into her brain?
In any case, the one thing these dumb leftists don’t seem to have noticed is that it’s not 2016 in Europe any more. One by one, Europe is turning to the right – much further right than our wishy -washy Blairite Conservatives.
But they all seem not to have noticed – it does make me wonder who is driving them? Are they being paid? If so, by who?

  6. O/t, this is a fine example of the tabloid use of ‘led’ to mean ‘was the most famous person among…’; I wonder whether, as well as saving headline space, it is an indicator – and endorsement – of the way celebrities, for a depressingly large number of people, now fill the post-religion need for a spiritual authority to venerate.

(At least it’s not as bad as my particular Mail bugbear; X or Y ‘leads mourners at funeral’, as if the deceased’s family are rendered insignificant in the presence of a bit of stardust.)
