How sad, never mind.
Nick Clegg is set to be ousted as Meta‘s President of Global Affairs and replaced with a Republican ahead of Donald Trump‘s inauguration this month.
The former Lib Dem Deputy Prime Minister will be replaced in the upper echelons of Mark Zuckerberg‘s empire by his deputy, Joel Kaplan.
You can hear my heart bleeding, can’t you?
I didn’t really have an opinion on Clegg until he started talking after the Brexit vote. He basically said that we shouldn’t be letting the proles have a say on matters that should have been left to their betters to decide for them. I’ve no doubt the he will find himself another comfy sinecure in no time.
No-one told him not to say the quiet part out loud!
That particular blood sucking horsefly will be quite comfortable in the quango zone with oodles of boodle from his past patrons.
He stuck lucky in becoming leader of the Lib Dems when they needed a charisma free dummy after the excitement of Charles Kennedy.
With further luck when the similar Heir-to-Blair Came-a-moron needed a short plank for support.
I remember Clegg when he was briefly “working” in a bank in Helsinki. Work experience or something. We couldn’t figure out if he was a fish or fowl. Later i realised he was a twat. Not your jovial Englishman abroad.
Perhaps Zuckerberg employed him as having a “Democrat” mind, which was ideal during Obama’s third term (Biden’s first). Then when DJT won the election, he changed tack and installed a DJT supporter (nothing like changing sides for a profit).
I think I am right in saying that in the early years of the coalition Clegg vetoed the Tories’ proposal to build new nuclear power stations on the ground that they wouldn’t come on stream until the unimaginably distant year of, wait for it, 2025.
I am told that Mrs Clegg happens to be a majority shareholder in….Europes’ biggest wind turbine factory.
