You and Me Both

Scared by the thought of a Labour victory.

The founder of restaurant chain Yo! Sushi says the Labour Party’s approach to business “scares” him.

Simon Woodroffe, who appeared in a 2004 Labour political broadcast, said he worried that the party had chosen a populist anti-business message.

That’s because it is anti-business. The thought of this bunch of incompetents, half-wits, Marxists and general morons in charge of the country petrifies me.

Meanwhile, the turbulent cleric has an oar in the matter.

The Archbishop kept his strongest comments for the role taxes play in ensuring that companies contribute to the societies in which they operate.

“There has always been the principle that you pay the tax where you earn the money,” he told me.

“If you earn the money in a country, the revenue service of that country needs to get a fair share of what you have earned.”

I thought his prophet wasn’t too keen on tax collectors… And, what he is proposing will inevitably lead to double taxation, which is inherently unfair. And it won’t be businesses picking up the tab because businesses don’t pay tax – we do. Idiot.

  1. I broadly agree with your appraisal of the Labour party. However, I fail to see a great deal of difference between it and the Conservative party. Both are authoritarian, arrogant and composed for the most part of people I wouldn’t trust to change a light bulb. Both appear to be beholden to even less trustworthy and distinctly less accountable parasites who infest our civil service.

    • David Cameron has one saving grace; he isn’t Ed Miliband. That’s about it, really. The Conservatives are no longer Conservatives. Agree entirely about the uncivil service.

  2. About the only really efficient branch of gummint is revenue collection, maybe salaries and pensions for gummint people is a bit more efficient.

  3. “If you earn the money in a country, the revenue service of that country needs to get a fair share of what you have earned.”

Is the CofE going to start paying taxes now then Justin? Otherwise I’m going to find it a bit difficult to take your comments seriously.

  4. Actually, it would be batter if they really were “Marxists” – we might have some intellectual rigour, then, admittedly in a twisted frame – rather like the church – what a surprise!
As it is, they are just fuckwits.
Along with the “green” party, of course.
