Prankster in chief: why I threw swastika golfballs at Donald Trump
Simon Bodkin is not a prankster, he is a jerk. And the Nazi meme isn’t funny, it is the sign of an intellect bereft of original thought – he is merely buying into the leftist meme that Trump is a Nazi. He isn’t of course. Not even close. I mean, when did America start building those concentration camps with the nice little gas powered showers for all those Muslims? Oh, they haven’t?
As is usual with leftists, they not only overplay their hand they do it clumsily with a sledgehammer, so any satirical effect is lost. And Trump offers plenty of material for humour and satire, but a fascist or Nazi he most certainly isn’t. Bodkin and his comrades are definitely nasty little creeps, lacking any sense of humour, subtlety or, frankly, intelligence.
Why Nazi golfballs? “They were the cheapest,” jokes the Londoner. But, really, what parallels were you trying to draw? “Many people are fearful of him. His vitriol towards others and his self-aggrandising make a lot of people see connections.” Between Trump and Hitler? “Yes. What I’m doing is always about making comedy connections. I have a naughty streak, an utter lack of respect for authority – and hopefully a decent sense of humour.”
Right on the first point, way off the mark on the second. You aren’t even close to being amusing and no, you don’t have a decent sense of humour, or you would realise that it was the kind of stuff the rest of us stopped thinking funny by the time we went to secondary school.
Yes, it’s a bit like comparing the late unlamented Met Commissioner Blair to Lavrenty Beria.
