I Thought We’d Seen the Back of it

The Census. Well, it seems not…

British citizens may not have to reveal their gender to the Government in the next census following a review.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has undertaken research as to whether the 2021 census should ask questions about people’s gender identity as well as their biological sex.

This follows protests that asking about people’s gender is discriminatory.

Okay, forget the silly political correctness here. In 2011 when we last went through this intrusive farce, the Conservative Party promised that it would be the last one. Oh, silly me, they lied.

In some respects, it doesn’t matter what the questions are, they won’t get truthful ones from me. Much like last time…

Shortly after the census in 2011, the ONS came knocking on the door wanting to question us about all sorts of stuff that is none of their concern – the labour survey if I recall correctly. I simply refused to answer the door to them and will continue to do so. I am not chattel, I will not be measured and weighed by the state and my information is personal and private; including what my sex is…

Meanwhile, just for laughs…

Germaine Greer, the academic and writer, told the Times she believes women are “losing out everywhere” because of a growing tendency to dismiss the importance of gender.

“I’m sick and tired of this. We keep arguing that women have won everything they need to win. They haven’t even won the right to exist.”

Batshit crazy doesn’t come close to describing this stupid woman. Where, exactly, have women been denied the right to exist? Please do tell.

The sheer idiocy here is that transwomen see themselves as, well, women, so if they have a binary choice will choose female – FtM will do likewise only the opposite. Trans people do not see themselves as “other”. That’s the whole fucking point.

    +1

    Pcar’s house:

ONS came knocking on the door multiple times here and 35% of doors visible from our house (middle class BC1 demo), nobody answered door.

Many (inc us) seemed to agree it was too intrusive & binned it.

  2. Why not do as I have done? Describe yourself as a homosexual hermaphrodite and decline to expand.

Just think what that does to hardwired little PC brains…

      • Actually it seems that he has problems making up his ineffable mind. The book of Numbers is all about the results of various head counts, and columns of figures that don’t add up. Later God ordered King David to conduct a census and then did a load of smiting when he remembered that he had previously banned censuses.

    • Given that the PC crowd frown on hermaphrodite, does that make you a self-discriminating homosexual hermaphrodite?

  3. Could someone enlighten me about the word “gender”? When I learnt of it, it was in Latin or French grammar. Nouns were masculine, feminine or neuter. Quite randomly most often. Eg, “Mensa” in Latin, a table, was feminine. (If I remember right.) Adjectives matched nouns in gender, and to some extent you could tell what adjective applied to which noun easier that you could in English.
What on earth does it mean nowadays? And what is “identity?”

How has it come about that we think we know precise meanings for words like “sex” and “gender”? Does the ONS provide any? What is “biological” sex? Are there other kinds of sex than biological? Arithmetical, or metallurgical maybe?

What planet are they on? It really really puzzles me what the ONS think they want to know, and why. How could any answer even be right or wrong? Are they really asking whether the vulgar name for the bits I get an orgasm from ends in a “k” or a “t”?

It’s not intrusive. It’s just demented gibberish.

    • The intrusive part refers to everything beyond name, address, sex and age. None of that is any of the state’s business and I intend to keep it that way.

  4. Trans people, yes. But what about the genderqueer/gender fluid? I think they’re the ones trying hard to deconstruct gender, and are often lumped in with us when they are an entirely different animal.

As for Greer’s women “haven’t even won the right to exist”, well, surely women been acknowledged as half the species since our ancestors first looked at each other naked and noticed the difference in plumbing? Good grief.

      • Probably. And third gender and who knows what else. I wish they’d just pick a name and stick to it. But that’s probably a “microagression”.

  5. Women have not won the right to exist? I must tell my wife and stepdaughters, they seem to be getting on fine. Maybe Greer was finally addressing the status of women from non-western cultures?

No, no. That’s probably a little too much to ask.
