Oh, FFS!

I present this little story without comment, for no comment is necessary.

The manufacturers of a new brand of luxury black toilet paper in Brazil have been accused of racism for using the slogan “Black is Beautiful” as part of an advertising campaign starring a famous white actress.

Okay, perhaps one comment following this:

Later on Tuesday, Santher and Neogama – the São Paulo advertising agency responsible for the campaign – said that they regretted any offense caused, and removed the slogan from their campaign

Sigh… Never explain, never justify and never, never apologise, for they will only come back for more.

I like black motorcycles, because black is indeed, beautiful.

  1. Can I contribute to the melée by saying I don’t like black because they soak up the sun and are a devil to keep clean – cars, that is.

      • Many years ago, I used to go with a mate of mine to the Rocker haunt, The Old Manor Café in Blackwater near Camberly, and on a Saturday night, if it wasn’t raining, a lot of guys would bring their bikes to show off. There was one guy who apparently worked in an electroplating factory, and he had a Vinnor (or Norvin, take your pick. A Vincent 1000 V twin in a Norton Featherbed frame, anyway), and that was painted exquisitely in a lustrous black, with gold highlights. And the Guy had bronze/brass (not sure, I’m no expert on that) plated everything that wasn’t painted, including the heads, wheels,(steel rims with spokes back then) exhaust and metal-wound cables. It really did look like a million dollars, that bike. Yes, black bikes are nice.

  2. On the subject of toilet paper, I did hear of the ex Rhodesian, sorry, Zimbabwean, living in South Africa, who produced toilet rolls with the outline of the face of Robert Mugabe on each sheet. The idea being you could not only show what you thought of him, but colour him in at the same time.

  3. Black toilet paper – how does one know one’s arse is clean?

Sounds like an execrable way to increase skidmarks and sales of other cleaning products.

  4. Remind me what Henry ford said about car paint? And talking of which black cars really do show the dirt badly.
