First World Problems

I have never read JK Rowling, nor do I have any plans to. However, she is right here. The offenderati, ever seeking an opportunity to be offended are getting their collective knickers in a knot over the casting of a snake.

JK Rowling has defended herself against criticism over the casting of a South Korean actor in the role of Voldemort’s snake in the new Fantastic Beasts film.

The latest trailer for the fantasy sequel, titled The Crimes of Grindelwald, revealed that Harry Potter character Nagini would appear in the film – with Claudia Kim playing the human version of Lord Voldemorte’s faithful serpent.

To which any rational person would say; Yes? And? So? Does it matter?

While Rowling’s wizarding series has previously been criticised for its lack of diverse roles, many aren’t happy with the decision to cast Kim as a character who goes on to become subservient to the franchise’s chief villain.

Good grief! You can’t write a book without some moron wetting themselves about the lack of diversity therein. When I write, I write about what’s in my head – I don’t give a flying one about diversity. Indeed, apart from one, they are horribly white and I intend that they will remain so. The more that the progressives insist that writers do diversity, the less inclined I become to acquiescing.

“Listen Joanne, we get it, you didn’t include enough representation when you wrote the books. But suddenly making Nagini into a Korean woman is garbage,” one user wrote on Twitter.

Oh, for fuck’s fucking fuckitty fuck’s sake! This is why I despise Twitter with a vengeance – it gives a platform to cretins like this. So there’s not enough diversity and now it’s the wrong type of diversity. There’s no winning with these morons – hence the best approach is not to even try. Tell ’em to fuck themselves.

The author-turned-screenwriter replied: “The Naga are snake-like mythical creatures of Indonesian mythology, hence the name ‘Nagini.’ They are sometimes depicted as winged, sometimes as half-human, half-snake. Indonesia comprises a few hundred ethnic groups, including Javanese, Chinese and Betawi. Have a lovely day.”

Or that, of course…

  1. Always fun to observe the Left SJWs attacking each other for not being SJW enough. Today we have mothers attacking Girl Guides for banning Girls who identify as Boys.

    Hmm:
    Labour Liverpool:

We want our festival to be a home for anyone who wants to be part of creating a fairer and more just society which is run in the interests of the many.

    Let’s try this:
“As a M-F TG I believe a fairer and more just society would be one where state legalised theft of one’s money would not be welcome and a bare minimum tolerated – 20% max. Will I be welcome?”

    What do you think?

    • And an FtM I object to the idea of mothers attacking the Girl Guides for abiding by the children’s wishes and treating them as boys by not letting them in. Good on the Guides for using the SJW’s own “let children be trans” rubbish against them.
