The Enemy Within

Take a look at the image here. It’s doing the rounds on social media. Once you have got over the shock – assuming that you are shocked that is – think about what this tells us about certain of our own. I can’t quite make my mind up as to whether I am or not. This was shared by a friend of mine. Someone I have known for four decades. Someone I’ve always liked and respected. Sure, she’s a lefty, but then so was I back in the day. However, what I’ve noticed of late is distinct Trump Derangement Syndrome (not to mention Boris Derangement Syndrome). And this image is an example.

Let’s be clear here. Iran is a brutal dictatorship that since the revolution in 1979 has pretty much declared war on the west. This regime has been meddling in other countries’ little wars (yes, I know, the UK and USA can hardly preach on this one, but bear with me here) and regards protocols such as leaving embassies alone as something it doesn’t need to bother with. Iran broke the rules and Trump finally reminded them that there are consequences. And he, apparently, is the warmonger. Trump, apparently, is starting world war three. I think it more likely that he is the one who will put an end to it. The ayatollahs thought they could escalate with impunity. The other day they discovered that they face a foe who is prepared to remind them otherwise.

Such is the level of the derangement we are seeing that people will actively side with a brutal regime that murders indiscriminately – including any of its own who dare to step out of line – a regime that treats half of the population as second class citizens, that behaves like a medieval, barbaric primitive shithole – because, frankly, that’s what it is – than they would side with the civilised (despite its faults) USA. Such is their hatred of the USA and Trump that they will side with the barbarian, the enemy, with evil.

I think, yes, I am a little shocked. People I thought better of would side with the fascists before the free world, with dictatorships rather than democracies, with barbarism than civilisation.

We are doomed…

  1. These social media outbursts are quite ironic. The people who have TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) tend to support things like radical feminism, gay rights etc, all of which can invoke the death penalty in Iran.

I think the phrase “Be careful what you wish for” has a great deal of synergy here.

  2. “Look how clever and woke I am retweeting (or whatever) this extremely funny meme about the Bad Ginger Man.” Sickening.
Is virtue signalling in its extremes actually an illness? In our culture we have a rich tradition of pillorying (not literally in most cases), cartooning and ridiculing our politicians. We have come a long way since beheading kings for politically convenient reasons, but it seems the left wants a program of continuous impeachment. Now, however, the metrollectual left seems to be revelling in “not my President” and in London “not my Prime Minister” with supposedly comedic reference to acid throwing during an election campaign.
My only conclusion is that there is a contagion being spread amongst the mentally vulnerable and hard of thinking by social media. It seems those on the right have better things to do, like earning a living.

  3. That appears to provide targeting information on the country’s Commander in Chief to a hostile foreign power.

Not sure how they do things over there, but shouldn’t the originator be prosecuted for treason?

  4. “Such is their hatred of the USA and Trump that they will side with the barbarian, the enemy, with evil.”

We saw this first with Bush Jr. It’s the same thing, just dialled up to 11…

  5. Remember the leftist people in the 1970s who would side with the Soviet Union against our society? There were nutters then as now!

  6. In 1982 I seem to recall some leftist trash sending good wishes to Argentina, hoping that they would adequately deal with “Thatcher’s pirates” (can’t recall the exact term of endearment).

At least Jane Fonda got off her arse and actually went to North Vietnam.

This sort of thing from spoilt, pampered and entitled children (which is what leftists essentially are) is nothing new.

  7. Dear Mr Longrider

There must be something wrong with me. When I scrolled down to get the last part of the message I burst out laughing.

It reminds me of a recent exchange where one party was slagging off all right thinking people and told them to ‘go find an island somewhere’. One person responded with a map of Europe with Great Britain circled and the legend ‘Here it is’.

It could be interesting to compare the handwriting.

Had another look – it’s still hilarious. ‘He’s on the golf course’. Brilliant.

Where do I go to get ‘adjusted’?

  8. The assassination of General Soleimani whilst on a diplomatic mission at the behest of D. Trump between Saudi Arabia and Iran is a crime and an act of war. Soleimani was responsible for successfully fighting ISIS in Syria. He also fought with U.S. forces against Al Quaeda up until George W Bush declared Iran as part of the Axis of Evil in 2002.
Normally I agree with your point of view but in this case you are quoting from very inaccurate sources. To paint Soleimani as some sort of terrorist because he was a brilliant military strategist winning for his side when the U.S. and the U.K. are well known for crimes against humanity is, to put it mildly a bit rich.
As to Iran being ruled by ruthless dictators, I suggest you do some research on what life was like under the puppet Shah put in by the U.K./ U.S.A. after they overthrew the legitimately elected leadership in the 1953 coup. It was the people of Iran whom overthrew the U.S. puppet and installed the regime now in place.
Iran is deliberately, incredibly misrepresented in western MSM. How come you slate the Guardian for the crap it writes but don’t treat anything written about the M.E. with some skepticism?

    • Er, I always use scepticism. Iran has form for suppressing dissent – and violently so. Women are treated as second class citizens as they are in all the Islamic theocracies. I did, indeed, acknowledge that the US and UK don’t exactly have a clean pair of hands here, but Iran is most definitely on the axis of evil and has been since the Ayatollah Khomeini took over. The Shah was bad, but in a flash, a forward moving country went back to the dark ages. The behaviour of the Ayatollah when he took over is a matter of record. And women who now would like to remove their hijabs and veils are treated as criminals – so, no, I do not look kindly on this regime.

As for Solemieni, fuck me, the man was a monster. Even the UN sanctioned him, so it must be bad. Iran has been meddling about in proxy wars in the middle east and the recent attack on the US embassy was their doing. That he was at one point our enemy’s enemy does not make the man a friend. The mullahs are evil. Solemieni was evil and the world became a better place when he died. And, no, targeting an enemy combatant is not a war crime – he was a legitimate target. If you want me to make a straight choice between the Iranian government and the USA, then it’s a simple choice. The USA every single time. Whatever its faults, it doesn’t come close the the Islamic theocracies of the Middle East, of which Iran is one.

A few years ago I attended a talk given by an Iranian dissident. She had been able to escape. Her brother was less fortunate. I think that she would agree with the axis of evil assessment of the regime.
