No, We Don’t Need Him

Professor Pantsdown has allies it seems.

Professor Neil Ferguson’s secret trysts with his married mistress should not be used to discredit his scientific evidence behind the decision to enforce lockdown, experts have said.

The shamed scientist, nicknamed ‘Professor Lockdown’ because he convinced Boris Johnson to order millions to stay at home, quit his Government role on the influential SAGE committee earlier this week.

However, leading figures in modelling epidemics have issued a joint statement defending the science, with one colleague claiming Professor Ferguson shouldn’t have resigned, as he described him as ‘one of the best in the world’.

If someone who has been consistently wrong about every pandemic he has been involved with is the best in the world, what the fuck does the worst look like?

And, no, a computer model is not science.

  1. Elsewhere the quality of his work is being ripped to shreds. It has been stated that it is so bad as to be practically worthless and that the whole process needs doing again by someone competent.

  2. Exactly the same thing has happened with the Climate Scam – despite the models being ripped to shreds by numerous independent investigations, the “official” answer is that they are all beyond reproach. Of course, it’s no coincidence that those conclusions were reached by other scientists involved with the scam…

      • OK. I give up. The only Eck that I know to have been purged is oor own esteemed former First Minister (Scottish Branch) and ex SNP leader Alexander Elliot Anderson Salmond, Black Bitch and tipster.
But you cannot be meaning him. Please elucidate.
        Pretty please.

      • Or a Pratchettesque ‘Jail them as soon as they get elected’ strategy from his book ‘The last Continent’ which is what the people of the fabled continent of Fourecks do with their elected representatives.

Sounds like a plan to me.

  3. It can happen to the best of us. Who has not lost a program when the cassette recorder has sucked all the tape into its innards and stretched it into uselessness before the Sinclair Spectrum has downloaded all our earth shattering code. So we cannot blame poor Kneel for being unable to present his code for scrutiny.

  4. Spot on

“If he’s best in world” – sack them all

What led to this absurd worship of academic models?

Models are what children and child-adults build and play with because they can’t do it for real

    Excellent article
    – The Grand Delusion Bail-out billions shield us from the reality – our economy is in tatters. Boris MUST [end lockdown] stop us sinking into a new depression, argues Dr John Lee
    – Dr John Lee is a former Professor of Pathology at Hull York Medical School and a recently retired NHS consultant

  5. Oh, that Dr Neil Ferguson, whose ‘models’ led the the decimation of UK agriculture over foot and mouth. ‘One of the best in the world’ doesn’t seem to be a very high bar, does it?

After that disaster, why was he even considered for the SAGE advisory committee?

  6. But … but … Govdernment scientists don’t do science. They do politics. They are not going to bite the hand that feeds them by disagreeing with their political masters, are they?

At least Salacious Crumb had a reason for his sycophant behaviour.

    Then there is this.

Of course, no one will actually, y’know, look at the Government website she refers to and actually check on the rate of deaths from other diseases.

Nah! Write her off as a conspiracy theorist. A lot easier …

  7. Some well informed commenters on your Daily Mail link except the guy who thinks “we lost a good man because of screaming lefty PC…” (under the Worst Comments button).

Quite right too. It’s his utter incompetence that should be used to discredit him, but I’ll take what I can get.

  9. Models are not made to do predictions, which is impossible in a multi variable environment where a small change in 1 variable will change the outcome. They are used for manipulation and I’m afraid they are very good at that, as we can see with climate change and now this.
