With the UK now in its seventh week of lockdown, many bored Brits have turned to online shopping in the hopes of keeping themselves entertained.
Now, scientists have urged Brits to leave any delivery parcels for 72 hours before opening them, to reduce their risk of catching coronavirus.
The advice is being given on the Germ Defence website, which is designed to help change people’s behaviours and cut infections.
The site, which was develop by scientists from the Universities of Bath, Bristol and Southampton, draws on behaviour change techniques to provide a plan for users to reduce their exposure of Covid-19 and viral load within the home.
Oh do fuck off! I’ve been opening letters that have come though the post and been handled by multiple people. I haven’t left them for 72 hours. I’ve also had the occasional package. Likewise. Seriously, the world is going collectively insane. If this is the best these people can come up with, their services are surplus to requirements, so sack them all.
I will be ignoring this idiotic advice, just as I’ve ignored exhortations to wear a mask. Now that the PM has said that I can go back to work if I cannot work from home, I am advertising my advanced rider training. The DVSA isn’t open for tests so we can’t resume DAS courses. There is no reason why I can’t deliver advanced training – not that there is much of a market, but no harm in trying.

Much as I dislike Farcebook – work means I need to use it. It is like lifting a rock and seeing what is crawling about below. And, by God, does it expose the sheer fucking idiocy along with the authoritarian tendencies of the average citizen. To preserve my sanity, I’ve started unfollowing people if I don’t want to start throwing things across the room or sending them angry messages telling them to grow the fuck up.

I agree an antibody test should be rolled out as soon as possible. As I commented on this blog a few weeks ago, I believe that I had it back in December and now that I have read two separate articles (one about a choir and another about French athletes experiencing similar symptoms back in October) I am more convinced than ever that it has been going around a lot longer than previously thought.
Covid19/Lockdown press induced panic scaring people to death?
In the first couple of weeks lockdown the word Suicide disappeared from local online news. But first came the odd one, then one or two and today at least three “man found dead in house”, “woman found dead beneath cliffs”, “road closed, man found dead in car on bridge”.
In all of them cause of death is “unknown but not suspicious”. The words Suicide, Covid19 or Lockdown never appear.
Suicide increase was predicted by me when Boris announced lock/shutdown, as was domestic abuse. Seemed obvious to me

I have been getting parcels in the post …. mainly from China for the last 6 months sometimes more than one a week (they take on average 4 weeks to get here). Only had one go missing – but there is still time. Will I stop ? … No way. Do I wait for more than 4 minutes before opening them ? …. Dont be silly. Do I have any illness ? No way apart from my diabetes which I can no longer get treatment for because of the lockdown. As you say the world is now INSANE.
