I’m pretty sure that there are a couple of precedents for the cult of Greta Thunberg too. Usually involving credulous Catholics being led off on a crusade and getting themselves brutally slaughtered if I remember correctly.
On the subject of the plague, after four days of decline there has been a slight up tick but only to where it was before. The trend is still downwards but with a sort of sawtooth pattern.
