It’s been pretty obvious to anyone who has been paying attention that the tech giants of Silicon Valley have been playing fast and loose with the distinction between that of common carrier and of publisher for a while now.
They like to claim that they are a common carrier, yet gleefully ban, delete or shadow ban the voices of those they disapprove, while allowing similar comments from the approved (far left activists) list to continue. The double standards are blatant and obvious but no one has dared to take them on.
Now, however, it seems they might have jumped the shark by banning a story from the New York Post. Of course, in their trying to quell this story, the Internet did what it does best and thwarted their efforts and the story is doing the rounds as the Streisand effect does what it does best. Indeed, it is probably more widely circulated than it might have been and for all the wrong reasons if you are a Farcebook or Twatter executive

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admitted on Wednesday that the company did an “unacceptable” job of explaining why the platform started blocking users from sharing the link to a widely questioned and dubiously sourced New York Post story about Hunter Biden.
“Our communication around our actions on the @nypostarticle was not great. And blocking URL sharing via tweet or DM with zero context as to why we’re blocking: unacceptable,” Dorsey tweeted.
No, you got caught and having got caught you are trying to wriggle out of it. As for fact checking – this is a major news outlet and usually they are left alone. If the story is wrong, I’m sure that someone, somewhere, will do the relevant digging. To rely on Twatter or Farcebook to fact check is a bit like leaving the crocodiles in charge of the fish tank. Having fact checked their fact checkers in the past, I’ve discovered that they are unreliable. Indeed, I no longer trust Snopes.
What has happened here is that the NYP is not a lone blogger, Youtuber or citizen journalist posting an inconvenient fact or opinion that can easily be crushed – see Tommy Robinson, Sargon of Akkad et al. This time they have banned a major story that is of public interest in the USA given that it involves a presidential candidate, they also banned one of the outlet’s editors who tried to promote the story.
They haven’t so much crossed the line as driven a coach and four through it, leaving sludge filled cart tracks in their wake.
They can no longer claim to be neutral common carriers because no one will believe them. They are publishers and as publishers they must now be held to account for every story, every comment, every racist anti-white tweet that festers on their vile platforms. Now is the time to let the piranha lawyers out and feast on the rotting flesh of these creatures. Screw them to the wall and keep doing it until Dorsey and Zukerberg et al are bled dry. They brought this on themselves.
If only, fucking evil the lot of them. Given how well Simon Dolan’s case went today, and the judge’s tacit approval of the BBC, can’t see it getting anywhere.

The NYP story is not the story here. Its content whether true or false is not the issue. Twitter claims that the materials were hacked and therefore contrary to its terms of use. Okay, fair enough, but that sensibility didn’t apply to the Panama Papers leak. They claim that it is against their terms to advocate violence, yet their blue check marks were able to vilify and advocate violence against a schoolboy for doing nothing more than smile. The story here is that while we have always known that the tech giants have a bias and behaved like publishers when it suits them, they aren’t hiding it anymore. They have crossed the Rubicon. They are publishers and people like Nick Sandmann need to be suing them for publishing libellous content. Their common carrier protection needs to be removed, because they are publishers, not common carriers. That is the story here.
