We Can’t Mock Criminals Now?

That this case got as far as it did is a disgrace.

A female West Mercia police officer has been cleared of sending offensive messages mocking George Floyd after a judge found prosecutors failed to bring charges in time.

Pc Joann Jinks, 41, was facing trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today but Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram formally found her not guilty of three charges of sending a grossly offensive message by a public communication network following the administrative blunder and subsequent legal argument.

Jesus! Really, this is beyond belief. How is mocking a violent, drug crazed criminal offensive? And even if it is offensive, the sending of a message should not be a criminal offence. That Jinks got off is good, that it was on a technicality is not.

In his whole sorry life, George Floyd did one good thing – he left it.

  1. Given the propensity for criminality and violence amongst a certain demographic, worldwide, not just the US, how long will it be before another crack-head dies in similar fashion to St George, and the accompanying hoo-hah reaches yet another crescendo?

Having said that, neck-kneeling is a terrible restraint technique, banned even in MMA, because of the entirely predictable consequences.

  2. If it was an official phone, I’d disagree. If it was her personal phone, then I’d agree.

But we ALL know why the bungling incompetents went after her in this case. It’s got nothing to do with his criminality.

  3. BTW, surprise, surprise, the CPS ‘lost’ the paperwork relating to a case against a serving officer.

  4. I was always baffled by the choice of George Floyd as the poster boy for BLM. Their main beef seemed to be that upstanding and law abiding black Americans were being victimised and murdered by white police officers just because they were black. Surely if this really was the case they could have created a list that looked like one of those WW1 war memorials. Instead they cannonised this revolting tharg, was he really the best example that they could find for their cause? Because if he was then they don’t have a case.

  5. Madness when rapists are just told to say “sorry” to their victims. Hurt feelings and taking offence are not grounds to accuse anyone of criminal behaviour. If they are, the law needs to be scrapped.
