Misinformation

Because they really don’t like competition on that score.

Andrew Bridgen has been suspended as a Conservative MP for spreading misinformation about Covid vaccination.

Whenever I hear the word ‘misinformation’ I am now inclined to actually hear ‘truth.’

Tory chief whip Simon Hart said the comments had “crossed a line” and caused great offence.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also condemned the remarks, calling the comparison “utterly unacceptable”.

Mr Hart said Mr Bridgen would lose the party whip – meaning he will sit as an independent – while a formal investigation takes place.

“As a nation we should be very proud of what has been achieved through the vaccine programme,” the chief whip added.

“The vaccine is the best defence against Covid that we have. Misinformation about the vaccine causes harm and costs lives.”

Ah, of course, the usual bullshit. The vaccine is not the best defence against covid as its utter failure to prevent spread and mitigate symptoms has shown. In fact, the best that can be said is that is it mostly harmless, but is it? We have seen an increase in myocarditis in the young; people who should not be taking this kind of vaccine in the first place. Frankly, the harm this vaccine is causing may not be fully known for some while, so the claims being made are done so without any factual basis. They are catechisms of faith, nothing more.

When I see the term ‘utterly unacceptable’ again, I think that this is simply someone ruffling feathers that would rather not be ruffled.

However, last autumn he began to make increasingly baseless claims including that vaccines were killing many people and that the damage was being covered up.

Baseless, huh? As for being covered up, given the brazen lies we were force fed, why on earth should we believe one single word these charlatans now say? They were certainly doing plenty of covering up during the pandemic, so I’m more than inclined to believe that they are still at it and Bridgen has merely said what we all suspect.

Posting a link to an article on vaccines earlier, he said: “As one consultant cardiologist said to me, this is the biggest crime against humanity since the Holocaust.”

This has really got on their tits. It’s a bit of a Godwin, but that is all.

Karen Pollock, chief executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, called Mr Bridgen’s comments “highly irresponsible and wholly inappropriate”.

Here we go…

Lord Mann, an independent peer and former Labour MP who advises the government on antisemitism, said Mr Bridgen should be barred from standing for the Tories at the next election.

“He cannot claim that he didn’t realise the level of offence that his remarks cause,” he added.

Anyone who is offended has chosen to take offence. It’s a bit OTT but that’s it. Grow the fuck up.

Conservative chairman Nadhim Zahawi, a former vaccines minister, said he was “proud” of the UK’s response to the pandemic, and he was “appalled” by Mr Bridgen’s remarks.

“Any comparison made to the Holocaust is completely inappropriate, belittling one of the greatest horrors ever committed by humanity,” he added.

Sigh…

A spokesman for Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said that suspending the whip had been “the right thing to do” and accused Mr Bridgen of “whipping up anti-vax conspiracy theories”.

He said it was “regrettable” that the prime minister had not acted sooner to “slap down what he has been saying”.

This champion of free speech is likely to be our next prime minister. That is far more appalling than a Godwinesque comment.

  1. There was a time when, if someone said something that you disagreed with, you explained why you disagree and refuted their statements with facts. Nowadays you stamp your feet and shout snot fair snot fair snot fair.

  2. On the subject of people being suspended, sacked etc for having the wrong views on a particular topic (coronavirus, climate change, transsexuality, etc), I just came across this:

    https://www.westernstandard.news/news/limited-run-games-employee-fired-for-following-conservative-twitter-accounts/article_100e9d42-912c-11ed-9f7a-7b87ed3f9ca6.html

So this employee has been sacked for having the wrong views on transsexuality and for following conservative Twitter accounts. That’s what gets you sacked by these ‘woke’ companies these days. You can be very good at your job, but if your views are “wrong” then you lose your job.

Limited Run Games is a company whose products I’ve bought before, but in future, if they produce a product I want to buy, I’ll buy it from a seller on ebay rather than direct from Limited Run. It will probably cost more, but at least the ‘woke’ idiots at Limited Run will not receive a penny of my money – it will be going to the ebay seller.

  3. This bunch of chemicals is only a “vaccine” because they changed the definition.I
The first jabs did not work, so you need another jab. That did not work so you need a fourth jab. That did not work so you need a fifth.
And because they all do not work we must give them to everybody regardless of age, pregnancy, fertility, etc.
Unless you entered the country in a wee rubber dingy.
Windfall tax on Pfizer? Eh? Those trillions were honestly earned.
    Cynical? Moi?

  4. This seems to be the comment that is regarded as antisemitic: “As one consultant cardiologist said to me, this is the biggest crime against humanity since the Holocaust”. It is risible to suggest that this is antisemitic and anyone doing so is either idiotic or has a dishonest political agenda. The comment clearly indicates that the Holocaust was worse and how can it be antisemitic to say that the Holocaust is the worst crime against humanity in the last 80 years, a period during which there have been numerous appalling crimes against humanity. Those making this accusation should be ashamed though I fear most of them are beyond feeling shame about anything.

As for the BBC’s report, it is the usual pile of ordure from this increasingly unpleasant organisation. Predictably it has the brass neck to accuse Bridgen of making baseless claims when the making of such claims has been its modus operandi when it comes to the effectiveness of lockdowns and masks.

    • You are right. The phrase ‘since the Holocaust’ does not mean ‘like the Holocaust’.

The claim of anti-semitism is baseless and truly dishonest.
But note that no prominent person has said that publicly.

The outrage is confected and is an attempt to deflect attention from a reasonbable discussion of the issues.

  5. “The outrage is confected and is an attempt to deflect attention from a reasonbable discussion of the issues.”

Why would that be I wonder? If it turns out that this guy is right and the truth becomes widely known, a lot of people are going to be in very serious trouble.

On the BBC, I thought that it became an anachronism when multi channel TV arrived. Now we can watch You Tube on our normal telly. There are ordinary people putting out really interesting and informative content. Because they are usually about subjects that they are passionate about, they actually know what they are on about. Unlike modern journalists I should add.

  6. Andrew Bridgen is being punished for repeating someone else’s opinion. Would a Labour poly lose their whip if Angela Rayner’s comment about Tories being scum was repeated? Of course not.
After showing complete contempt for Mr Bridgen by walking out of the Chamber before he even began one speech, they are now showing that the ‘elite’ must never be challenged. A brilliant example of ‘a house of debate’.

  7. “The vaccine is the best defence against Covid that we have. Misinformation about the vaccine causes harm and costs lives.”

Let me just fix the punctuation:

“The vaccine is the best defence against Covid that we have misinformation about. The vaccine causes harm and costs lives.”

    There, that’s better.
