A bus caught light. As buses do. They don’t? Oh.
An electric double-decker bus burst into flames on Thursday morning, with shocked witnesses reporting a loud ‘bang’ on their commute.
Ah. As you were. Buses don’t usually just burst into flames. This is one of those wonderful EV buses, so a different animal. Shame the headline didn’t make it clear, eh?
For a zero emissions vehicle, it does seem to be giving off a lot of, er, emissions.
How long before one of these glorified golf carts causes a disaster?
It’s inevitable.
Just a matter of time and I would suspect that in China one probably already has.
Apparently, these buses are assembled in the UK using a Chinese drivetrain and batteries. Only the bodywork is made here…
Oh dear!
A bus caught light. As buses do. They don’t? Oh.
Apparently these electric ones do. A fact that will surprise absolutely nobody paying any attention.

This story has been covered in a little more detail by Paul Homewood.

Apparently fire chiefs are uncertain as to what caused the fire.
The battery I expect. Morons!
No, no, no. If you examine the footage closely, I think you’ll find it’s actually a diesel Range Rover.
Because diesel often spontaneously burst into flames without being a vapour.
i think Sam’s comment was ironic and referring to the Luton fire…
And mine was sarcasm for the fact checking site he linked to…
There goes another one.

Apparently the buses are completely safe and there is nothing to worry about.
