They Don’t Let Up

It never ends.

Boris Johnson today warned of a Covid ‘blizzard from the East’ as ministers refused to rule out re-imposing tough travel restrictions on Europe amid fears over surging cases.

The PM raised fears that a ‘storm of infection’ on the continent could derail the UK’s emergence from the pandemic – pleading with Britons to come forward for booster jabs.

The comments came after Austria announced a draconian new lockdown on the unvaccinated, after a dramatic increase in infections.

Germany, France and Italy have also been seeing a significant uptick in their outbreaks.

We are entering the winter months. Respiratory diseases thrive in the winter months. Cases rise in the winter months. This is normal.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken

Says it all, really. I intend to carry on as normal. I have no intention of complying with any of their absurd rules and I will not be dictated to by these charlatans. I will not live in fear.

  1. My work colleague didn’t Want the vaccine, she had to give in or loose her job. Her complaint was that she was the only one who hadn’t been vaccinated, she never got covid, it was ones that had been vaccinated that caught it and brought it onto the care home, yet she was treated as the demon.

As for Austria, on the radio one unvaccinated person says that the places he isn’t allowed to go to aren’t places he frequents anyway. Its all getting very silly.

      • Likewise I rarely visit pubs and to me watching a film in a room full of strangers all stuffing their mouths is about as appealing as a waterboarding session in an Iranian prison.

The point is though that the government has no right whatsoever to take these options away from me or anyone else. First they came for the film watchers and I said nothing…

  2. Heh. That Mencken quote has been on my mind a lot over the last few weeks, what with the Climate Jamboree going on barely a mile away and the continuing damnpanic.

  3. Several hours at sea in a rubber dingy gives sure fire immunity, and total inability to pass on the dreaded crony virus on to others. So when returning from the ghastly East always come in an inflatable rubber boat. I think that it is static electrickery from the pressurised rubber hull which neutralises the green mushrooms growing on the red spherical virus cell. Reversing the polarity or sumping.

  4. I’m vulnerable for various reasons so I had the first two jabs. However, I baulk at the third “booster” within 8 months of the first two (11 weeks plus 5 months). If the first two worked then wtf. If they don’t then why insist on another of a different brand “vaccine”.

BTW pretty coincidental that 3/4 vaccines were developed (quickly), but they ALL require two doses and then booster shots earlier than a year.

  5. Although the issue has been exaggerated and milked for all it’s worth, the Covid virus is at least a genuine hobgoblin, I knew personally a guy in his twenties who died from it. The CO2 damages the climate thing is a totally imaginary problem.

    • Statistically, you’d have more chance to win the lottery than know someone who died in their 20s of covid.

      • Don’t know anyone who’s had serious problems as a result of Covid – a couple of people said they lost taste for a while.

However I do know someone in their 20s who’s having serious health problems as a result of having the Pfizer jab.

So no jabs for me. Or my family.
Nope. Not risking f*cking our health so some rando can feel a bit safer.

        • It’s anecdotal but I’m noticing lots of people in their 30’s and 40’s falling ill in recent weeks – and some with odd and inexplicable symptoms like debilitating headaches.

Perhaps I’m just more tuned into it this year, though of some of it is down to adverse vaccine effects then none of it is being recorded as such.

  6. Do you believe the government numbers on how many are vaxxed (x N)? If they lie about other things, are they lying about this?

  7. “Statistically, you’d have more chance to win the lottery than know someone who died in their 20s of covid.”

I would think that it would be close although I haven’t actually done the sums. The person in question was quite a big lad but was a rugby player so pretty fit. Since I finished work I only have a fairly small circle of relatives, friends and acquaintances so I only know a couple of other people who have been affected, both were working in schools. I wonder if school kids are more likely to be carrying the bug without knowing it? I don’t know of any oldies who have had the bug, my wife’s parents and my mum are in their eighties and are all still OK.

  8. My vaccine proxy (took the two shots in my name so I could get the certificate to go to France) is still in roaring health thank goodness. His liver, not so much.

No doubt he will be up for another vaccine jab if it becomes required, sandwiched by a few vodkas before and after and £100 cash in hand, no questions asked.
