Ship of Fools

They live among us. They vote.

One in five Britons would support the reintroduction of a Covid lockdown right now – even though the worst of the pandemic is over.

Shock polling data of 2,000 adults revealed a fifth would back the Government if it ordered people to only leave their home for essential shopping, an hour of exercise and work.

It was scary enough that so many people supported this draconian idea at the hight of the covid scamdemic, but now? It has mutated to a nasty cold and yet we still have cretins who think that locking the country down and destroying what is left of the economy is a spiffing wheeze.

Experts told MailOnline the results were ‘upsetting’, saying it demonstrated the effectiveness of ‘project fear’.

Well, yes, the evil scum in Sage are responsible in part. The sheer bovine stupidity and gullibility of our fellow man is also to blame. A complete absence of critical thinking and the ability to detect bullshit when it is sprayed so liberally as it has been is deeply depressing.

But experts insist brutal curbs — proven to have devastated the economy and crippled the health service — are no longer needed thanks to the UK’s wall of immunity.

They were never necessary. The whole thing was scientifically illiterate, bordering on superstition, but still people bought into it.

    • It’s probably something to do with the hope of getting paid for doing sweet FA again.

And likewise TG, the only lockdown I’ll ever do is when they put me in prison for refusing to comply.

  1. I still see a few people wearing masks in the street. Being charitable perhaps their immune systems are compromised so even the slightest protection may be worthwhile.

But someone should tell them that the mask goes over the nose, not underneath it.

    • It seems that most people think the masks are ineffective. Therefore they are worn for a different reason. I have worked out that those not dumb enough to wear it for covid reasons are wearing it because they are ugly. They were able to hang about with ordinary people in covid times so want to keep that going.

  2. You could probably get 20% of the population to agree to anything if you asked the question the right way.

    • and if you ask in the right place. I’ve not seen anyone in my town wearing one for a very long time.

Suspect that most of these pollsters don’t go far from their front door.
