No

Now fuck off.

Protesters from around the world are called for veganism to become law as the United Nations Cop28 climate conference began on Thursday, 30 November.

Activists called for people worldwide to stop eating meat as they gathered in Dubai, UAE.

No. Not doing it. If that means I will break the law, so be it. We do not have a climate crisis, the Earth is not boiling because of cow farts and I will not be dictated to by an insane cult.

So, fuck off and die.

  1. I just had a Swedish style beef stew with horseradish, vinegar and sugar in it (pepperrotskott), which is very similar to dill beef stew (dillskott) except the dill is replaced with horseradish. In general, I love all kinds of beef stew dishes so these fuckers can go fuck themselves as far as I’m concerned.

  2. At this very moment we’re tucking into a delicious roast Pork joint, wifeys’ superb roast pots, cauli, brussels, carrots, broccoli and good dose of her home made gravy complete with all the meat juices, bloody lovely, daughter always nicks some of her gravy when she visits, never tasted better.
    So yes they can sod off and then sod off a bit more when they get there.

  3. Which brings up a serious question about just how much ‘they’ can pass laws to curtail the freedom (yes AND yewman rights)of the people with no democratic mandate. I would have said that the various rules around lockdown and covid should have been challenged in the highest courts. Parliament thinks it has unlimited authority but the only proof of that comes from assertions made by Parliament itself. I recall that most covid charges were dropped if there was a remote chance of a not guilty plea leading to a challenge.

    Also, what does their plan for the economy look like with no cars, no oil, no free movement, no electricity, no butchers and so on? Just how many fiddles can you make around the edge, how many jenga blocks before the whole edifice comes down around their (cloth) ears?

  4. “Protesters from around the world are called for veganism to become law as the United Nations Cop28 climate conference began on Thursday, 30 November.”

    Protestors from around the world are calling for veganism to become illegal… boot on the other foot seems illiberal no?

  5. I was in conversation with a vegan at work. I said I think people should eat veg and fruit when it’s in season. More flavour and not having to bring it in from abroad. He was horrified, UK winter Fayre was boring claimed that flying in advocardos etc from the other side of the world was more environmental friendly than getting beef from a local farm. Not sure I understand that argument but if you only have local produce don’t think people will become vegans.
    Another couple of vegans had to go to vegetarian diet then back to meat diet due to health reasons.

    • No surprise on the latter. Humans are omnivores: check the tooth and innards designs. A meat-free diet is incomplete and therefore unhealthy.

  6. When you think that vegans are more likely to die earlier than normal citizens, I don’t give a monkeys’ about their problems!

    The ‘supplememnts’ they have to take to bolster their immune systems, their failing metabolism and their general well-being, is never discussed, but they have real problems on their hands with some awful side-effects from not living as an omnivore!

    As said – many times here – ‘Sod ’em’!

  7. I don’t think that there is any need to panic, it’s not going to happen. Vegans aren’t doing themselves any favours by jumping the shark in this manner. People have always found them to be objectionable with their pushyness, trying to use the law to force people into their lifestyle against their will is obviously a step too far.

    In other news, I will be using Sharwoods curry sauces now that Pataks have started using the repellant Jamie Oliver in their advertising.

  8. Just read an article that said bio fuels made from plants can be used in diesel cars. Cuts about 80% of carbon emissions. So sorry vegans your food source will be powering our cars!

    The land unsuitable for arable farming can be used for sheep, cattle and chickens.

  9. There’s no way in hell that laws will ever be passed to make veganism mandatory. Look at these vegan loons protesting. They’re a very small minority fringe movement.

    Not even a far-left Labour government would make veganism mandatory. Only a Green Party government would introduce such a bonkers law, and there’s no chance we’ll ever elect a Green government.

  10. It’s pretty damned difficult to be vegan in this climate. Best of luck trying to get by on plants when nothing much is growing and you can’t fish or have milk or cheese either.

    If transporting food around is a crime, can’t bring anything in. No salted anything either, given that salt ranks up there with “whiteness” in the evil hit parade.

    Need a hotter climate then, and perhaps more plant food in the atmosphere.

    Hold on…….

    Oh what tangled webs we weave……..!

  11. I suspect that the vast majority of vegans just quietly get on with being vegans and don’t bother anyone else. Unlike the stop oil bunch they do at least walk the walk and live by their convictions. I don’t eat meat but I do eat fish, eggs and dairy products. Something that I do understand is that a certain level of civilisation is needed to make veganism possible. I doubt that a vegan would be able to get sufficient nutrition to survive in a pre industrial world.

    • B12 is the issue, in a first world country, vegans have to supplement, the Indians that came over in the 60s were deficient in it, but not at home, everything in their home country was covered in shit (or at least grown in it).

      There was a recent study of some vegans in Iran, that weren’t deficient, but they were growing their produce in night soil. Not really practical in a densely populated area.

      Good luck farming organically without animal husbandry.

  12. Meat, poultry, fish – the elixir of life

    Bacon is a homage to pigs

    Will the eco-terrorists ban animals eating humans and each other? Birds jailed for eating carrion, insects, worms?

    @rhoda
    I would have said that the various rules around lockdown and covid should have been challenged in the highest courts

    They were, but judges dismissed or refused to hear them

    In other countries hearings were held and verdict was often Gov’t broke law, end this

    However, as we’ve seen in US, Gov’t ignored courts

    @Flamingo girl

    Modern diesels need highly refined fuel. Making bio-diesel uses more energy than the product provides

    @jaded
    And…
    . If animals weren’t so delicious, nutritious we wouldn’t Grow them
